In theaters October 17. Starring Kristen Stewart and Peyman Maadi.
A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small town roots. But she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay instead, where her mission is far from black and white. Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees. A story of two people, on opposite sides of a war, struggling to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. And in the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.

This was a slow paced drama with a profound message. It doesn't glamorise war, it highlights the ignorance of society, and even military personnel. I enjoyed it immensely. One of Kristen's best performances. If you like more action-based bang bang military movies, this is not for you.

You know, before, I used to think Kristen Stewart was an awful actor. Shitty and bland and boring. But now, I'm beginning to think she just played a shitty and bland and boring CHARACTER. And we just based our opinion of her on that. Because she genuinely looks good in this.

You're probably right. If you actually read the Twilight books, that's exactly how that character was supposed to be. So, she may actually be an incredible actress for being able to portray such a flat, depthless character so accurately.

+Sina Abedi No, they *fear* what they don't understand. And fear always transforms into hate. That's why we are not better than animals; humans attack when they feel threatened just like a cornered animal and they celebrate victory as a result of civilization when it's not more than destroying the things they never understood but had the power to destroy. And it makes me incredibly upset, sad and angry at the same time.

She received praise for her playing Princess Diana in the movie Spencer and she nailed it and Kirsten Stewart was just known as Bella Swan from Twilight and everyone had been crazy about Twilight and then there was that cheating scandal with her and the Snow White & The Huntsman Director and all the Twilight fans were angry with her b/c of her cheating on Robert Pattinson and she stayed out of the limelight and then she did some movies like Camp X Ray Adventureland, and The Messengers, and Still Alice and then she did Cold Creek Manor and Spencer was a huge slam dunk for her. Everyone praised Kristen as Princess Diana and she was nominated for an oscar now. She did a great job playing Princess Diana.

@ Wayne Nash I agree 😃 although I could hardly watch her in the twilight saga. Partly because the movies didn't do the books justice, & partly because I didn't feel she fit the role at first, lastly because her acting was what I expected it would be. That being said, I feel she has now become a wonderful actress that as you said, can play any role 🎬👍👍

Vanessa R Yes it does say but it doesn't mean that punishing is violent. It is the same like teachers scolding their students. You know in Islam, there are lots of conditions you need to imply before punishing them like hitting them at the age of 10++ without harming them, hitting with a reason to teach them the rights and wrong and not because of anger. But what is considered as a sin is if we hit too hard and to show them that we are powerful. So I hope this makes you clearer about some rules in Islam. c:

Stewart deserves many oscars for this role alone. She is, without a doubt, one of the greatest actresses(or call it actors) ever. Doing FIVE awesome movies in only ONE year while having bad social anxienty... I really respect her. She acts because of passion, not for fame.

Terrorism is above all murder. Murder is strictly forbidden in the Qur’an. Qur’an 6:151 says, “and do not kill a soul that God has made sacrosanct, save lawfully.” (i.e. murder is forbidden but the death penalty imposed by the state for a crime is permitted). 5:53 says, “… whoso kills a soul, unless it be for murder or for wreaking corruption in the land, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and he who saves a life, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind.”

Andrej Arendáš 1- do not falsificat quran in my presence in quran it doesn't say slay it say say kill them 2-" drive them out of places whence they drove you out " what you expect if somebody killed so mush of your people and drive out of it as usa did for native americans do you blame indians if they fight back and kill colonials ? 3- i dont know if you meant to change some words in the verset to make it brutal or you did find it on internet like you put it here the real one is "[002:191] Kill them wherever you find them. Expel them from where they drove you away. Persecution and oppression are worse than killing. Do not do battle with them near the sacred house of worship (Makkah), unless it is they who engage you in battle there.

When you quoted what is actually Surah 5:32, not 5:33, you may have forgotten to mention that the verse begins by "Therefore did we prescribe UPON THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL . . . that whoso kills a soul, unless it be for murder or for wreaking corruption in the land, it shall be as if he had killed all mankind; and he who saves a life, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind." Surah 5:33 is "Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment"

This is a movie I have yet to watch. I was involved in the Iraq war during the time of the big Military stupidity of Guantanamo Prison. I was ashamed, of my brother's and sister's who were involved in that terrible act... I developed a hate for certain people during my time across the pond but I recognized it and swashed it! I don't hate people, just the choices they sometimes make. This movie looks good, and honest, I think I will watch it now..

I had to come to the realisation in the end that this isn’t the reality of the people there. We can all sit here and argue that our country or race is the better one, but when it comes down to it, no race and no countries can argue that they never did anything wrong - even if it seemed right at the time.. Shit happens and somewhere down the line, we have all played a part in it..

You can't argue that a country or race is good or bad. You CAN argue whether an individual is good or bad, but never a country or race. We're the Americans monsters for dropping the nuclear bomb on Japan? Regardless of your opinion on whether the action itself of dropping the bomb was evil or not, no, Americans were not monstrous for doing so. Why? Because they didn't even KNOW such a device existed, they didn't make and decision and they didn't ask for it, only a select few who knew about it made the decision FOR them. No matter where you are, others are making decisions for you and because of the ignorance of others (of ALL countries) you're going to have to live with them and carry them with you everywhere just because you happened to be American. You didn't have to make the decision, it's been made for you. You didn't have to agree with them, it's assumed you did because you simply grew up there. You didn't even have to be a part of the movement that caused it all, they don't care. I'm speaking for both Americans AND Muslims. Oh and to be honest. Don't preach that every countries done bad things, because you fail. Every. Single. Time. You see, there a lot of countries that have never done the things the country America has simply because THEY have NEVER been put in the position that America has been. I'm sorry but last time I checked the Japanese did not bomb Canada's Pearl Harbor, they bombed America's Pearl Harbor. The Canadian's Government/Military didn't have to end the Japanese war, the American's Government/Military did. The French did not have their World Trade Center burned to the ground, the American's did. The French Government/Military did not have to retaliate, the Americans Government/Military did. If you asked me to describe America if it was a person, well, I couldn't answer, because to try to describe a country as a single person would be absurd, the only way to describe America is as 310 million different people, not one. They ALL have different opinions about things, they're not all Muslim haters, they're not all gay suppoters/haters, they're not all innocent. But if I just so had to, specifically for this example, I would describe it as an old, war torn person who had to make difficult decisions to survive and decisions that he now has to live with. I describe him as that man walking down the street, bearing all those decisions, and some punk walking up to him, whose never had to MAKE said decisions but feels him or herself to be superior to him or her because he or she hasn't done said decisions and feels inclined to spit on his or her shoes and berate him or her with ignorant insults like "where america stepped it left war everywhere -Salo Chikhladze".
