Oh definitely, but that has been a curve going on for a long time. I remember plenty of moments in campaign 2 that would have led to a talk with the Dungeon Master had I been a player in those circumstances, but which make sense as decisions in an improvised entertainment performance, which is what this has been for a long time. I agree that Campaign 3 has them stepping up that aspect though, from the first moment of bringing the players on a few at a time to perform their introductions, which felt very much like theatre. And of course, to clarify, I am not saying that any of that is a bad thing!

They're not just a bunch of friends playing D&D, they're a bunch of _professional voice actors._ And I believe that getting to higher production values was always in their goals. I remember watching one of their older streams with Matt talking about getting suggestions for better mics. And they even released a featurette on the making of the current studio, meaning they're proud of what they've made the show into. And honestly, if you want to watch just a bunch of regular dudes barely act as they play dice games, there's more than enough guys on Twitch for that. For me, the appeal of shows like Crit Role and Dimension 20 is the fact that you have professional actors and improv comedians playing, so they have an innate understanding of the _role playing_ aspect of role playing games.

In general, I don't feel as connected yet to C3...yet...as the other two campaigns. I think most of it has been not knowing whether Travis' characters were his actual characters. Chetney is fun, but I kinda expect him to leave each episode, so and if Robbie leaves, Chetney is going to miss a partner in crime, because those two are frigging gold together.

@@romxxii Honestly it's more than likely never their goal, but they went that way after their success and adjusted so, which is nothing wrong either. It's just that the change of tone will have a big change on audience reception and give a different feeling towards the og fans. As for them wanting better equipment, it's only natural when the ones that are less than good interrupts their session repeatedly and interrupts immersion and enjoyment.

@@takeachance5881 The video I'm talking about was from super early into their time. Orion was still with them when they made the video in question. So let's not pretend that professional voice actors suddenly wanted professional quality production just out of the blue. When they were asked by Geek and Sundry to stream their games, even before they went to broadcast they were already discussing the future. And again, if you just want to watch untrained actors rolling dice, Twitch is chock-full of that.
