I wish my professor in nursing school teaches like you; putting an effort to make students understand the process etc... We don't do this stuff, but I wanna understand over and over again on this topic because in my opinion, this is one of the important stuff... My previous prof. don't really do anything but do a speedy verbal lectures; then we wasted hours there not learning anything then we go home clueless then have to study tremendously. If they teach the way you do we don't need to work extremely hard with anxieties... Of course we need to study hard, but without the anxiety because we have confidence on the way they suppose to teach... You're one of my fav online professor-- I love the way you teach.

Dr Campbell, thank you so much for your lectures, they are my main studying material for my nursing degree. Your videos not only are wonderfully explained, but they are so easy to understand and most importantly, they're enjoyable too! It's been so easy to have good marks on my exams thanks to these videos, and when I'm on practice it's so easy to understand how the human body works and the reasons behind it. Again, thanks a lot for your help....A very grateful student.

this might be a silly question but here it goes anyway. oxytocin is only needed by females, does this mean that men's posterior lobe doesn't produce any oxytocin? Again thanks so much for your help. You have an unique talent for teaching.
@qexcalibur1120
@qexcalibur1120 5 жыл бұрын
Men produce oxytocin just as women do, but in smaller amounts. In women, oxytocin drives labour via a positive feedback loop whilst also facilitating lactation. In both sexes it has a role to play in feelings of affection, hence why it is sometimes referred to as the "love hormone". Just for your information, a positive feedback loop is essentially where a hormone will ramp up it's desired effect without inhibition from another hormone. In the case of oxytocin, when the unborn baby begins pushing against the uterus, stretch receptors propagate action potentials to the hypothalamus which stimulates the release of oxytocin via the posterior pituitary. Oxytocin causes the smooth muscle within the uterus to contract which pushes the unborn baby further down the birth canal. This leads to more frequent action potentials to the hypothalamus which subsequently results in more oxytocin release. As you can see it is an unbreakable loop because the more the baby progresses the more oxytocin is released. There's no inhibition from another hormone, the only way to break the positive feedback loop is for the baby to be delivered. Once it has been the stretch receptors wind down their action potential propagation and thus oxytocin release falls.

Greetings...great video...Here's my situation...back in April I woke up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding...there was no shortness of breath, just the heart pounding...and since I have a racing mind, all that extra blood being pumped, drives me towards anxiety and then I can't sleep...I am 57 and this had never happened to me before...the first instance lasted about 4-5 days and it was pretty severe...then disappeared just as it appeared! I was fine for 3-4 days, then it came back...it has been like this since April 17th, although, as of lately, it seems like the intensity of the condition has either gone down or my body is getting used to it or has learned to cope with it...the condition just comes and goes... sometimes, when just laying down, I can feel my whole body jerk and immediately after that, I feel a rush flowing through my entire body and 2-3 seconds later, the heart starts pounding...it's almost like an adrenaline rush because my hands get a bit shaky and so do my legs...it is very annoying and I am begging to get worried that my Endocrine System is failing...what's your take?....and I know you can't offer medical advice, but I have no medical insurance and certainly cannot afford health care...I do appreciate your input. Thank you and have a blessed day.
