The way the mattress fills is by something called “The Venturi Effect” my automotive teacher taught us this using a long empty plastic bag. Basically putting the bag around your mouth and lips can push out only so much air, but as soon as you put the bag around a foot from your face and blow. An effect of swirling air rushes through and fills it easier and faster than putting it around your mouth. I was blown away when I first saw this

If you brought vinegar, oil, ginger, onions, soy sauce ,garlic,chilis , couple tomatoes some sugar 1tbsp. Fry those fillets till crispy . Mix the above marinade ingredient. Heat till hot . Cool . Marinade fried fish in it overnight, you've got delicious pickled ESCABECHE for breakfast. No worries about refrigeration.

For future reference, you can build a makeshift smoker to preserve the meat for a day or two by putting a fire in a shallow pit and letting it burn down to a small flame or hot coals. Next you build a tripod by lashing together 3 fresh green branches with smaller green sticks between them to act as a hanging rack. Drape the tripod in a blanket/tarp or something similar, making sure whatever you use is not touching the ground and the top of the tripod is not covered. Once this has been completed, you may hang your meat on the racks and cook it there until it is dry and cooked. Hope this helps! EDIT: Additionally, if you are close to saltwater you can periodically baste the meat in sea water while it cooks to preserve it for longer
