I agree with your sentiment… but octopus like such usually only live very short life spans, and the typically die very soon after reproducing… When we’re talking about commercially fishing them and farming them you are absolutely right. It would be horrible to subject them to such conditions and overconsumption… But let’s be honest just because they’re intelligent does not mean that we shouldn’t eat them… Lobsters aren’t smart but get much older. People don’t mind eating something “less smart” that’s been in the ocean probably 10 times longer than that little octopus that is smarter. No hate, all love. But let’s not shame folks for taking a He’e every once in a while. They don’t live very long and they will die anyway very soon after breeding.❤❤ they’re delicious as Poke

Theyre impressivly capable of problem solving and adapting, etc, but there are things they fail to develop as a result of their lifespans like complex social behaviors. Everything in the ocean has its purpose, and with care and knowledge we can share In the oceans purpose.
