Got to love the old mountain pie maker. Haven’t done one of those for 30 years. We always used butter on the outside and preferred the pie fillings for a dessert

Cliff, This is a video for you and all of us, especially in these chaotic times. It seems like everyone around you has that same sense of peace and tranquility, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could bottle it and and offer it to the world? Ah Well(sigh) Cheers, Rik

This is a favorite for me. So peaceful with the beautiful views, the campfire for cooking, reading/relaxing into the evening by the campfire, the sounds of the night critters when it became dark, the moon and stars, sleeping under the trees. I found it all so calming. Just perfect.

Born and raised about 15 miles from Blue Knob, have lived all of my 63 years in PA, 43 of those years within 25 minutes of Blue Knob area. I have fished the upper end of Bob's Creek from the time I was old enough to hold a rod n my own. Beautiful area. The little village of Pavia is pronounced "pay/vee/eh" not "paw/vee/eh". Appreciate all the videos. I was just up at the campground this week and took a walk around the campsites, scoping out the best site for my tent!

Such a relaxing video to watch you camp at Blue Knob State Park. Really beautiful setting; I would really enjoy camping in that spot. I have a tip for you with the type oil you use; so that something doesn't stick or even if you cook something in a pan. Olive Oil has what is called a low smoke rate. Oils with a high smoke point are better for searing or browning; so, olive oil is not the greatest and you can easily burn something with it. Avocado oil is a great choice. It's unrefined like extra virgin olive oil, but it has a higher smoking point (500 degrees F), which means it can be used to cook at higher heat and is great for stir-fries. It will not burn as easily. Many oils are not what they say on the bottle; these companies will cut it with a cheap oil and sell it as avocado oil. A good avocado oil is by Chosen Foods, 100% Pure Avocado Oil. Always look for oil that is Expeller Pressed & Naturally Refined. First cold pressed is the best when you buy cooking oil. I really enjoyed this video, Cliff. That lovely fire made me want to cook some S'mores on those lovely embers. A fire at that level makes the best toasted marshmallows.

OK, I'm buying some pie-irons! We camp a good deal, and I like the wood-fire cooking, instead of a bunch of pots and pans on the stove. Might be ham, or tomato, instead of tuna. . .In fact I cook over wood at home in the yard a good deal - they'd sure work for that. Might try egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches in 'em, too.

Nice shirt and hat professor! Hey I used to love Mau Chunk Lake Park for swimming and camping. It is a county park. The concessions were great too. It's been oh probably since around the time you were born lol that I was there! I hope it's still nice. The cool part is there is a headless horseman legend. Mooahahaha. He rides in the woods around the park. It was a dark, quiet night, I heard it! Being a believer in science I knew there had to be a logical explanation. No ropes on the flagpole, I couldn't figure it out. It sounded like the clop clop clop of hooves. I don't remember how to spell it anymore but it's above Jim Thorpe. Go through town head up mountain entrance on left. Locals like to keep it on the downlow because it's small and nearby Beltsville gets packed. I think it was a moonlit night.

Try rubbing a little soap on the zipper. You can also take pliers and squeeze the zipper together just a slight bit works great. There are KZfaq videos on how to do it. My old tent had zipper issue towards the end of its ten life. It was my wife's job to fix the zippers there were 4 in our tent. Our Rottweiler and to many tropical storm camping trips got to it.

Next time you make pies on the fire, Butter your bread on the outside. Trim excess bread off after you close the iron with a knife. This helps seal the edges. . I always preheat the iron. It helps to prevent sticking. Try pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni or any thing else you like on pizza. Cook "on" the coals not the fire. You will not be disappointed. Oh by the way canned pie filling makes a nice dessert. You just found the most versatile cookware ever.
