I head into the backcountry for a weekend of tent camping with the hopes of finding some beautiful sights as I ventured through the forest on my Can-Am Outlander. The trail systems take a tour through an area known as Stable Mesa which is known to be rich in ruins. Although no ruins were found, I stumbled upon a great view and a cool window in the rock feature at the end of the trail.
//Coordinates:
Staging Area: 35.86365, -106.66504 - Multiple trial opportunities exist from these coordinates.
Window in the Rock: 35.79343, -106.77537

Awesome ride again. Entire area is just beautiful. Those Aspen trees are beautiful. You have to make it back to that area this fall for sure. Stay safe and keep the great vids coming. Your an inspiration to us all. May of 1977 I was 25 stationed in Japan climbing Mt. Fuji. Yes we are still around and still camping and hiking. LOL. You still have a lot of living ahead of you my friend!

Man I love views like this. I can stay there looking for hours in all directions and then to top it off taking the drone up makes it even better! Fatwood is an awesome wood to have around on wet days. It'll get a fire going in the rain plus it burns super hot for those cold winter nights. I am loving all the rain. Have you guys had good rain? Yeah the monsoon develops over the Jemez like clockwork. When I first moved out here in 2008 I got a job working 3rd shift. Every morning after work I'd jump on my street bike and explore the Santa Fe Natl' Forests'. About 1pm those thunderheads would start rumbling which meant it was time to go home and sleep before work that night. On my street bike I started attempting to see where all those cool roads led but it wasn't far before the rocks got bigger and the ruts got deeper. That's when I realized I needed to sell the street bike and get something more worthy of NM terrain. Thanks for the videos.
@ManzanoManATVAdventures
@ManzanoManATVAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
You nailed the clockwork of summer storms that roll into the Jemez. I love how it can cool the forest by 20 degrees and how can we argue with that? I can imagine the challenges a street bike could bring to the terrain. That is great you got something more trail worthy for NM terrain. There is so much riding opportunities that your investment I am sure has paid itself off with better mobility. I love the diverse terrain we have to ride in and how different it could look in just a 100 miles from where we are. Take care and I appreciate your support and comment.

You nail it with your comment! Coleman has been in the camping scene from way back in the days. Plus their products work great. Man this trip was epic all the way around. I saw so many side trails that I want to explore. Plus I got rumor that there is a ruin or something out there. The person didn't want to tell me to much. So now I need to go and find it. I appreciate it man. I was super happy to have my family surprise me when I came back. The rain helped out with dust, and also kept temps in the 50s. No more than 60s. Thanks for watching bud. I am such a curious dude that I am going to make it down the trail that went down the cliffside. It was getting pretty late in the afternoon and storms were brewing so I thought a return camp was a better decision. But I am so dang curious what is down there. I will make it up there later this year. Most likely in the fall time because of the Aspen trees. But this spot is worth multiple visits because of all the trails not marked on maps. I have heard there are ruins so I need to get in and hike around to see what I can find. Thanks for watching bud. Have a good day.

My next trip I am thinking I want to peak bag a high elevation peak close to or above 11k. I am glad you enjoy the scenery out in New Mexico. It is a kept secrets to us. When you drive by on the freeway it looks like nothing is in New Mexico, that is until you get off the road and into the forest. There is a backside story to the bull. When I was about 13 I lived in and around a lot of farming country. My friends dad wanted to castrate their bull and I remember him saying dang he is hung low. I'll have to wife fry these up when we remove them. Dude that was my first time every seeing a job and it was a bit traumatizing. Thanks for watching buddy. Take care out there.

To bad the rain had other plans. But I will take it as long as we are getting all this rain. Monsoon is treating us well this year. I think that would be awesome to have them meet one day and play when they are older of course. I think it would be cool to go camping, both families and take the kids. I have lived here 20+ years and am still blowen away. You'd love it. Your area is fantastic too, the views seem to be everywhere. Thanks for taking us along. Ps. Super cool your family surprised you.

Awesome video my friend! That was a good looking breakfast with the bacon and egg. Those trails look relatively smooth on top of the mountain. Views at the 20:50 Mark wow that was nice! That was cool your wife came out to your campsite with your kids. That’s what it’s all about teaching our younger generation about the outdoors, good stuff!! Thanks for sharing your adventure my friend!

It is smooth for the most part and the trail rarely get hard unless you drop into canyons in this region but then one your ascend or descend is over its smooth again. I think a lot of it has to do with this mountain range being part of the Colorado Plateau. As the bird flies I was 80 miles from the state line. There are so many cliff side views in this section of forest. There is no better way to end a trip but to have the company of my family coming out. I couldn't have asked for a better ending to the story. Thanks for watching bud.

Hey buddy. I’ve been a bit slow on posting videos because we were under fire restrictions and closures. I did post a video a couple weeks ago Atv riding and fishing, plus talked about the closures in the video to let folks know why happened. Thank you for all your support. Videos will begin. I’ll be posting one this weekend camping with some buddies and there afterwards will get in some more ATV trips. Have a great weekend!

Looks like fun times. What’s your back up plan if you break down ?
@ManzanoManATVAdventures
@ManzanoManATVAdventures Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there really isn't a solid plan. Although, I use an app called Gaia GPS that I mark points of interest and trails I plan on taking. I communicate this prior to leaving so I at least left some sort of idea of where I am at. I always try to stay ahead of maintenance and look over my ATV to hopefully prevent this scenario.

Nice truck. Did you ever put any pre-load spacers on the front shocks?

Hey friend Manzano! I thought about making my own hand chainsaw using some old chainsaw chains I have laying around. Not as effective as the ones meant to be pulled both directions, but hard to complain when it's free, haha. Man, you have a great place to ride sir. My sister is thinking about heading that way now for the winter. We'll see if she decides to. My mom said she was talking about going to either New Mexico or Nevada. Idk about Nevada, but NM seems cool. I'll be honest, I didn't expect that fire to get back going again. Man, even after just eating, you hit me with the bacon footage, and I'm ready to have me some of that. This would make a great fall destination. That's an incredible looking canyon! Wow! It looks like there's a trail running down into it also. That's a very cool rock. That's a really cool shot when you left that overlook. Very cool to see your family out enjoying nature with you. What temperatures did you have up there Ruben? Great video sir. I'll talk to you later.

I think making a homemade saw would be awesome. Not a bad idea to build your own tool and use it when it is needed. Here in the Southwest we have a wood that we call fatwood. It is a sap saturated piece of wood that will guarantee get a fire up and going in wet conditions. I hope they stop in New Mexico. I think they will enjoy the scenery and culture. We are very proud out here of our arts, food, and history. I love cooking outdoors and eating. Food always taste better in the outdoors over a fire or even in a skillet. But I agree with you. I will be coming back in the fall time for sure. The canyon views and formations of the lava ash created cool rock formations. In summer our mountain ranges can vary. It can be anywhere from the 30's up to the 70's. This is all depending on elevation and what part of the state. The area I was in it was in the low 50s in the morning and low 60s in the day. Although I am sure we were in the 40s because I was seeing my breath pretty thick at night.

That’s awesome. I have a 4x4 truck and a dual sport motorcycle. The truck is too big to fit on some trails and the motorcycle can’t carry much and is sketchy if it’s snowy. I’d like to get a quad to go camping and exploring. I have experience riding street bikes, dirt bikes, 4wheeling, I rented a quad once and a side by side once. I have no clue where to start. I know I want Japanese, I know I want 4x4, idk how big I should get or if I want lockers and a winch. Lol. Are the 450’s enough? I’m 6’1 225lbs.

Hey there man. I can understand what you mean by carrying gear on a dual sport motorcycle. If you do get the opportunity to get an ATV and go camping with it you'll love it. Yamaha ATV's are great machines to own. I have personally never owned Yamaha, but I have several friends who have and they love their machines. If you bought a 450 it should give you plenty of power to ride and carry a load to go camping. I have never owned an ATV with a locker so I would love to know the pros and cons on having that option. Our body builds are similar and you should be good to go. Thanks for watching and commenting. I hope you can make a ATV trip happen. I promise you'll not regret it.

I recently got my first atv. My first trip out on it was to a bear camp in the interior area of Alaska. I really enjoy watching your videos and hope to be making my own soon. Your videos give me alot of ideas on what and how to pack. I really enjoy them, thanks for the insight. Jason.
