Whats your favourite mat? one of these or a different one? I'd be interested in your thoughts. I hope this video was helpful to some.

Xtherm Max might be the one if you only want one pad. I got downmat7LW, it's 100% for my comfort, but if I sit then I touch snow. And when I toss and turn, air circulates and I feel cold for a moment. Second pad I got is xtherm LW mummy. I can sit and not touch ground, air dosent circulate when I turn. Comfort level 80%. Like them both. Got them second hand, but new unused.

Very useful indeed and unbiased. My partner and I will use this to help decide what to sleep on for our motorcycle tour of NZ early next year!

Great Channel totally enjoying it. The wife going camping is also neat. “Love, see if she can do it, so can you. Right.” “Love…did you hear me?” I’ll keep trying. Anyways, great discovery by me. Keep up the great job. The very best…Bill

Just back from a sleepout last night where I felt my kit was lacking, I was warm enough but it stressed my back when trying to turn. Made me think where I could get some good independent advice/opinion. Great video - gave me good food for thought.

Family Camp...Trekology, space is less important & you can use it as a li-lo on the water. Everything else 🤔, tricky..... ⛺️🇬🇧🎥 like wot Lee said, genuinely good comparison video😎👍

Thanks mate, it was tricky putting this one together, a harder edit than a camping video : ) but I quite like the way it came out. tried to keep it short and sweet. appreciate the comment x

No one mat for all situations, seems contrary to say that but true. Just too many variables to deal with. A good lot there Dan, at least you can pick and choose for the situation at hand. For me it's a total bust really, at 6'5''/250lb I just do without. Great video and details. Now go use one of those mats😉 See ya, enjoy!

Trekology is fine if you stick one of those foil mats below it they do however need to make it longer that is a issue.

Sticking stuff under it means you’ll be carrying more gear. It all depends on what you’re trip is.

A nice vid comparing your mats Dan 👍 My favourite one is an old ME Helium 3.8 but I've always wanted an Exped, wish I'd bought one when they were under £100 but I couldn't justify it to myself then (damn, do I regret that now).

Yeah they’re shockingly expensive these days. I paid £200 for mine last year. I’d have bitten their arm off for a £100 version!

I'm looking for a summer mat and when I found the UL140 I so wanted to like it - it's thick and wide. But I'm a 6-foot side sleeper and at 186cm long minus the space you lose from it's pillow I don't see this being long enough for me. So it looks like the narrow UL80 for me. Which considering the UL140 is 19 cm wide than the UL80 it's a ridiculous position to be in.

I've just ordered an Exped SynMat 7 LW. It's currently at £125 where I could still find it in stock. Hope it's as good as I've read. Had been considering budget options, but after doing a little more research I decided to upgrade a little.

That Trekology does look lovely & deep! I have a 10cm Zoobelives horiz-baffle pad that I absolutely adore, but I rather fancy the look of those side-rails. With respect to the insulation issue, I find that simply spreading a mylar pocket-blanket beneath a cheap, uninsulated air-pad lets me take it from 2 season use to 3. 😁

That’s true, obviously that means more to carry. Depends on your trip.

Unless it can make me a coffee in the morning, I'm not risking anything going down on me in the night. A bit of foam 365 days a year, thicker in winter my only caveat to comfort.

I’ve had mine over a year with no issues. It’s pretty comfy. In Ju e it should be warm enough but if you’re concerned about the cold from under you pair it with a foil roll mat.

My current mat is a Nemo Astro 25L ultra Small pack size. Side ways baffles Easy to pack. I’m a side sleeper and love it. Not a great r value but with reflective foil. Fine. I paid in 2017 £125 having previously had two xped Down 7LW that failed. Will never buy an exped product again.

Interesting that you’ve had expeds that have failed. I guess it can happen to any mat, but it does put you off. I was gutted my big red failed. Never trusted it since.

Bought two as we were homeless for 22weeks living in a Tent Tipi Safir cp9. First one leaked after a week. Shop said I had punctured it. The second leaked sometime, later? A month.!! Experience is all No exped here.

didn`t KLYMIT get in to BIG trouble for exaggerated the R - VALUE on their mats and not use the WORLD STANDARD TESTING METHOD like EXPED+THERMAREST use and went with their own thoughts on what it might be instead of what it actually is , and they had to change all their web details after they were found out when they were only half the R-VALUE of what they had stated on their website.
@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 3 жыл бұрын
I can't speak to that, I have no idea.. however when I looked up all the stats there were 2 R-values on the Klymit website.. with different letters after there names. I used the lower of the 2 for this video.

@@CampLifeBushcraft not wanting to tread on any ones toes but a few years back maybe 2019 they were , pardon the pun inflating their R-VALUE on their pads but now they had to use the industry ASTM R- Value standard as they were going to be sued for false claims in their products , another great video .

I have that exped9down an exped7syn a sea to summit R-value about .8 😂 and some close cell foam pads. The exped9 is for by winter and the 7 is my all year pad. The sea to summit mummy style is useless
