Africa holidays are not cheap, but its worth every cent. We started in 2006,, 2013 did Mana Pools, have done Botswana , Namibia and in SA one of the most spectacular parks for us is Mapungubwe did not see a lot of animals, but those rock formations going back Dec 2024. Thanks for sharing, its programs like this, that make us end up in the bush,,,

It was great being back in the Kalahari! I didn't show Molose 1 and 3; Molose 1 is right across the waterhole but has no shade. Molose 3 is a nice site but there was some confusion at the gate whether the ablutions needed repair or not. There were people on no 3 eventually so I guess not. PS. The female lion in the video is Desi with 5 of the 7 sub-adults of her litter. She generally moves with LF047, her sister from Molose. She is 12 years old. They are mainly active in Moreswe but they still come up to Molose where they meet other 2 adult females with their cubs. The father of the sub-adults we saw is either Rocket or Snooks, the male coalition dominating Khutse GR prides.

Having had the huge privilege to spend time in places like this, your film brought home to me how amazing Southern Africa really is. My wife and I hold places like this very close to our hearts and we will treasure our time in the bush. Sadly she is no longer able to travel due to illness, so our time together laughing with friends round the campfire and enjoying potjie chicken is at an end. So your video is as close as we can get to bushcamps, so thank you for sharing with the global community.

@@GetOutGO with friends who know ever bird, plant and tree, we tended to look beyond the big five (still great to see), but who knew the Ellie tracks would be so beautiful or that their dung could be home to hundreds of dung beetles. Your subtitles with birds names just acted as another reminder of the diversity in the bush and all it’s characters too. I’m fortunate that my job as a conservation manager in Scotland takes me all over the remotest parts of the highlands, so I do have privileged access to our wild land - but I do miss that lions roar in the dark though……..

Thanks for the update i was hoping for ... Ive forced a bit of 6 camp visitors to help whit repairing the Molose Waterhole Pump .... Teamed up with 6 visitors and the repairgroup of 3 persons , within 3 days the water was running again in that only dual muddy waterhole. After getting a new pump and joining up again.. within 4 hours the pipe all was running again ... I ve personally leared the Molose Waterhole area from huge amount of plastics of the old broken waterpipes . I hope they repaired also the wateroutlet at Molose. Immediatly the day after the lions came back again and i had to lure the Ellies to tha freh water again (they did not smell the new water), day later i did see leopard at the waterhole but he did not spot the fresh water . The lions played later with a part of the old pipes laying around . I am sooo glad the waterpump is still working . I had to go 2 days after the repair of Molose Waterhole and did not have any feedback..... I am so pleased .. you made my day. By the way I am a Dutch Aircraft Engineer and come to these areas to ease down from the hard work ...at AMS . But unfortunately i never can sit still ..so in case help is required for the sake of wildlife i will be active. And with great content of all the parcipitants who have supported me. over there ..... good and lasting job. I hope other people will help also ... because the 3 persons who had to do the work ..sayd to me that they never experiences a white person assisting them..... a great shame.

Hallo Chris. You must close the hole at the back of your gas burner pipe you used to light your fire. Its a breather hole. You only exspose the whole after you turn off the gas and to kill the flame. With the whole close, the burner will burn must stronger and higher. You will safe a lot of gas. Good luck. Nice video.

Hey Christoff. Sorry, seemed have to deleted my earlier comment by mistake. Lekker video, really enjoyed the trip with you. Roads to Khutse looked good. Roads inside the park looked quite sandy in places, so probably not ideal for a 4x2…also could probably create more wear and tear on the roads too.
@GetOutGO
@GetOutGO Жыл бұрын
No problem! Roads to the reserve are okay. It's slow through the villages (Zeerust to the border, Molepolole) and the last 100km dirt from Letlhakeng to the gate is badly corrugated in places (they do grade sometimes so it's luck of the draw). You could make it to the gate and maybe even Khutse camp with a 4x2 but there are a few stretches in the reserve where you need a 4x4.

@GetOutGO
@GetOutGO 11 ай бұрын
Thanks Deon! Rule no. 1; no running (especially kids)! 2. Always leave vehicles unlocked and seats accessible so you can retreat to those when you’re in camp (or go to your tent if that’s closer). 3. Park vehicles behind you with the fire in front of you. 4. Have an air-horn with you (only use in emergency though). 5. Always secure food and garbage (out of reach and out of sight). 6. Have a bright flashlight on you (don’t shine in animals’s eyes directly though obviously). 7. Hyena’s usually scare off easily with deep “voetsek” if they get too close 😂, if there are a big group though rather retreat to safety.

Hi Chris, just a couple of questions. Firstly, absolutely crappy water heater installed in the military tuff companion! What dewhot heater did you have installed? Did you experience any soft sand and hassles pulling the companion around Khutse? Lastly, how is the availability inspite of the exorbitant prices charged. Thanks for an awesome channel, really informative ❤

Thanks Trevor! Yeah, I must have had that Hansen geyser back at Conqueror 5 times! The last time I even tried to work with Hansen directly, all I got was attitude. It’s the 5l Dewhot (low pressure eco-flow), the Atlas works as well apparently. There is some thick sand in patches but nothing crazy, dropped the trailer to around 2,2bar.
