Solo camping in the rain with tent and tarp. Cooked double cheeseburgers over the coals while sipping on some outstanding craft beers. On this camp I tested out my new Deuter contact core back pack. The rain came in a bit later then expected but this worked out well. Temperature dropped dramatically over night and I woke to stunning crisp morning. Hope you enjoy the video.

Abel Thank you so Much for sharing your Journey! Those big birds are a trip over there! Smiles! Over here in America we have to look out for bears 🐻 and snakes 🐍. However birds stealing my food wouldn’t be too cool either. Still I’d rather deal with them than the creatures that we have here. Take good care and I’m really looking forward to watching your channel grow Huge!!!👍♥️

I love how the birds just hang around the campsite. I some vids, I see the Kiwi-like bird prancing around like a chicken and checking everything out--seems to like the heat from the fire--tame and fearless. Then there are the Robins, perching on the woodpile and hopping around like sparrows about, acting so curious and wanting to be KZfaqrs too, with their tall skinny legs and fat feathery face--too cool.

LOL😁Thanks for answering the question! Indeed, I guess it's that time of year when temperatures drop. To hear nothing but birds and rain - that's the thing. Anyway - keep up the good stuff. Have you ever considered hiking some or all of the Karamea River/Taipo river trail toward little Wanganui ? A long way in and out, but would be an interesting challenge?

About the firestarter - don't feel guilty about not rubbing a couple of sticks together for a few hours to get an ember - especially with NZ wood. I use firestarters all the time - it comes back to the fact that this is your camp and your enjoyment. You're not here to try and impress the purists. I am also going to get the air pump - man that turbo heats the fire!

Pack looks good. Very interested to see how your new quilts will perform for winter. You might just get me away from traditional bags if it's a success for you. Also have you tried bicycle inner tube for fire lighting?
@AbelandVictoria
@AbelandVictoria Жыл бұрын
The quilts if anything like our other ones will be excellent. With a -18 comfort rating they should be plenty warm. We got them slightly oversized for us so should be really comfortable. I can’t wait to use them this winter. Nah haven’t tried bicycle tube. Is it better then a fire start block thing?
@nickransom9769
