Camping On The Beach In A Huge Storm

New videos every Thursday! Beautiful wife and I are enjoying some time out of the freezing weather, but there was still a storm to be had out on the coast of Vancouver Island. There was flooding, states of emergency declared in a close by municipal district, but we hunkered down in the Gazelle screen tent gazebo for the night. Salty air blowing through the tent, lots of rain pitter-pattering on the tarp, and some good beers and sandwiches! Was a blast, and I highly recommend this type of storm camping!

Yeah. I watch a number of bushcraft and expert-level camping channels that depict camping from a very advanced view, canoeing through very remote Canadian lakes for a week and such, but Steve presents camping in a way that is more likely what the average guy will experience. Just a normal guy who likes to camp on the weekend. It's nice.

Steve, I love how you are so diligent in picking up other people's trash. That's my biggest pet peeve. I'm a fisherman. I'm constantly picking up discarded fishing line. I've actually made signs on my local lakes and ponds begging people to police their line. Not only does it hurt the wildlife and damage our fisheries, but it makes us all look bad. Thanks for your efforts and commitment to conservation

nobody cares bc the population is exploding meaning being green is worthless. just another family that will have 200 dollar electric bills made from coal and they will buy a tesla thinking they are green. Really no point to doing it if more and more people grow and aren't interested in sustainable ways of life. I quit going out of my way, doesn't even save much money compared to the 3 million dollar house that makes my property taxes higher. But now I live in a van bc of all that and just shit on their streets like they shit on mine.

I know you're not going to see this, but as counterintuitive as it seems when you're putting down a footprint/tarp under your tent you want it to be a little bit smaller than the tent so it doesnt stick out at all. That will prevent rain water from building up on top of the tarp

You need to send this video to the gazebo company. I am sure they would be interested in how strong their product is! My Aunt and I camped near Ocean City on a small sandy beach. Our tent had seen better days but when a surprise tropical storm hit with seventy mile an hour winds, our tent was the only one left standing! We and all our stuff was soaked. Oh how I miss those great times.

Steve and Beautiful Wife, thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us! I’m a recent subscriber with a long history of rough car camping. I grew up hearing stories of my parents experience living in a wood floored tent heated by a cook stove on Alaska’s Yakitat River in 1939 to 1942. I haven’t camped in several years due to health issues. Your stories bring me great vicarious breath of piney forest and burning wood fires. A very welcome distraction!

I need to do more stuff like this. I love the calm before a large storm, and really like it during the storm, especially if I’m camping. Something about being out in nature when it’s throwing all the stuff most people hate at you. Almost therapeutic it is.

Love this video. Reminds me of one of my camp trips. My wife and I went camping 7 years ago on the Oregon coast in our tear drop. We brought a gazelle gazebo only 3 panels we huddled in it for 2 days with rain had plenty of step 2s. we tied it down with 2 gallon buckets full of concrete had to throw a tarp over the top had the same table and a buddy heater. 3rd night we woke to strong winds and had to take down the gazebo in the middle of the night. We still say despite the weather it was the best trip ever. We take our gazebo on every camp trip since.
