Camping West Texas: The Backcountry of Big Bend National Park

Күн бұрынMy last day overlanding and camping West Texas. It doesn’t get more remote than the backcountry of Big Bend National Park where you can drive for days without seeing another human. I set out on River Road along the U.S.-Mexico border to reach the old Mariscal Mine, an old quicksilver mine that was abandoned in 1943.

Very nice video! We love both parks (BBNP & BBRSP). Your mention of the need for good judgement & good preparation in these very remote areas is dead on point. Spending hours to travel a distance that "back on the highway" you would cover in 30 minutes is eye opening indeed. This entire area is a treasure to explore.

I’ve been going to BBNP for 30 years. Rice Tank has been my campsite dozens of times. It’s so named for Fred Rice, the rancher who settled that area for years. The tank - and why there is still so much greenery - is what he created to water his livestock. It still retains more moisture than the surrounding area.

Cool video! It's funny I've watched videos just like yours that I just can't get through they are so boring,but yours kept my attention. I'm going in February with my brother and two friends. I've been a number of times,but never off road. We are going to explore off road with big adv bikes.
