So I broke out my Dutch Army Hooped Bivi for a bit of Wild Camping in the woods.
The Dutch army bivi is a Gortex Bivi Bag that can be zipped up when it is raining to provide a body sized waterproof shelter. ideal for stealth camping as it is a woodland camo Bivi bag.
Got to love a bit of army surplus gear!
I met up with Rob from ‪@WildCamper‬ for this overnight Wild camping trip.
We did some camp fire cooking and chilled enjoying the sounds of the forest around us.
The coffee making kit can be found here bit.ly/3I4C225

Nice one Dan👍👍 You and Rob did a bang up job on this one. Can't use a bivi myself, just too small, feel too cramped in one. For stealth I can see the pros though, I just use a tarp but some folks won't go there. Good fire, good food and drink, good time it seems. Thanks for the trip and work, see ya soon.

To be fair, I prefer just a tarp. But it was a good experience and it's nice to use some old gear now and then. Great to see Rob. It had been too long.

Dam, my man! Another cracking video mate, really enjoyed it. Dutch army hooped bivi has a partner you need to take mate, the British army Basha. The two together for me are the best of bed fellows when it come to stealth camping and not having to worry about breaking the seal on your sanctum in the morning to face the dawn ! Great vid mate, keep up the good work. Regards Moose

I could.. but if I'm under a tarp I don't see the point in a bivi. I likes the challenge of using it as intended.. just for fun. I wouldn't want to do it often though 😂

G'day Dan, always good to see Rob along, shame no Jon, ..... but two outta three aint bad ; ) Bit of a multicultural vid with the Dutch bivy, Japanese saw and the kanga jerky. I have tried roo ONCE and only ONCE....... like venison, emu, snake, croc, buff, goat ..... perhaps llama or alpaca, etc ......survival meat ONLY !!!!!!!! IMO ; ) Good work getting a flatter bed lay fellas .... Its worth the extra effort up front to get a better sleep I reckon. Certainly worth giving a hammock job a crack on the ground Rob, might not be perfect but you aint always gonna have a coupla well placed trees. The Flextail blowers are certainly proving to be a fantastic multiuse item. Anyway, all good in the wood. Cheers Duke.

Hey bud, yeah Jon was supposed to come, but has done himself a mischief and may be out of action for a while. pretty sure I had a too burger when I was over your neck of the woods.. and a few other special treats, some better than others. Just back from a trip with just myself and Lolly.. that has gone pretty well. I'm looking forward to getting the video done. hope you are well mate. Dan

@@CampLifeBushcraft Well thats no good, hope it wasn't a dodgy mushie. In any event, if you're out there Jon, ...... all the very best mate !!! Yep fair to say some "bush tucker" is far more palatable than others. I'm told witchetty grubs are fantastic as another example, however, unless I'm ever in survival mode ............................. ; ) Cool, very much looking forward to see how Lolly is coming along. My little, dare I say "princess" , google tells me Kylie is old Irish for beautiful/graceful, which is all very nice, but is now showing proper signs of maturity, ..... thank f*k ; ) Yep, all well this end mate, hope you and fam are in good nick too !!!!

Interesting coffee maker. After I saw the video I looked it up on Amazon. The directions in some pictures seems to indicate you add the coffee to the cup, then insert the under bit so the coffee is trapped is a layer and you then add the hot water, rather than assembling the cup and inner and then adding coffee and hot water ? May make a difference to the taste or strength you get out. I will be getting one anyway to try out but interested to hear your views of its use both ways. Keep up the great videos

Hello Dan, hope you are well? I'm a big fan of your channel, I was wondering if I could get your advice? I've seen your video on going for a first wildcamp but I wanted to know what might be the worst possible outcome of camping on a privately owned woodland? It's just for one night and the wood lands has public paths through it. I just could really do with your expert input! Many thanks, Christopher
@CampLifeBushcraft
@CampLifeBushcraft 6 ай бұрын
Hi Chris. To me private land is my last option, unless you ask for and get permission. I guess the worse case is you are woken up by an irate land owner with all the associated drama that comes with it. from a legal stand point, until they ask you to leave you're not trespassing (unless there are signs) but once asked to leave if you fail to they can then call the law. like I've said before, I would steer clear and find some forestry or national trust land. hope that helps. BTW this is just my personal opinion, others would feel different and suggest if you're not caught you're fine.. I'm just not sure I would relax.
