Full English Breakfast cooked on a trangia ... says it all really, I was out exploring the forests local to me for the day, scouting out places to wild camp. I knew I'd need food so I brought out my trangia set to play with.
I cooked a full English including baking some bread rolls on a trangia.

I have had my Trangia 27 for 38 yrs now and have used it hundreds of times! Best total burner and cooking set around. I have used it backpacking for up to 7 days when there were two of use camping. My friend and I would just split our loads as even as possible. No need to go ultralite for up to a week., after that amount of time I use lighter stoves and cooking gear. But I used it mostly for 1 or 2 day trips and many times on fishing trips. I used to bicycle camp and into the panniers went my trusty Trangia 27 system. My wife and I used to set up the Trangia in the kitchen during hard Winter storms and cook on it just to keep up on practice cooking with the Trangia system in case we had a Winter electrical outage which happens with great regularity where we live. Great breakfast and video You made me very hungry now I am going to eat!!!

That was a great demo of the Trangia mate loved it and you convinced me to order one. I live in Perth Western Australia and we are blessed with being able to very quickly, leave the city limits and have literally hundreds of kilometers of remote beaches to fish and camp on. Having served in the Aussie Army back in the 80s I was quite biased towards using the old Hexamine stove and fold up Dixie pans for cooking everything on. During my last camping trip I literally shared a limestone cave with another mad for it fisherman because the weather turned to shite. He had the same system you are using and he was also smoking fish fillets with his one. He had a piece of chicken wire fashioned into a small stand to fit over the burner. It had a small steel plate in it that he was putting sawdust on from the dried Wattle tree branches that he cut with a small camping handsaw. The burner flame smoked that up brilliantly and the fillets were a taste sensation. Looking forward to my one arriving and doing the same thing on my next camping trip. Great channel mate have subscribed cheers

I don't think the trangia is to bulky at all , you get a base , a stand , superb wind screen , saucepans , frying pan , kettle , and room to store bits and bobs , its actually ideal , doesn't weigh that much either

and its quiet too, compared to many gas stoves.
@steviezxr
@steviezxr Жыл бұрын
Quiet as in silent. Yes it’s not bulky at all. Anything it has something another stove doesn’t have. If you want a really stable base, and need a really stable base. If you want a storm proof windshield then you need a storm proof windshield. There is no way around this. Throw in the cheapest to run fuel burner, that is also storm proof, and it all fits in itself for storage, you have a trangia!

Yes. In Swedish it's called " stormkök " -storm kitchen. Trangia stoves old or new models are standard to bring with you.

The trangia is an excellent piece of equipment and I have used it for years. But for longer hiking trips, I would not be my first choice for several reasons: 1. It IS bulky, this thing takes up some space in your backpack. 2. Even if this is built of aluminium, a Trangia 25 series weights over 1kg, and that is without the fuil or gas-burner. 3. IF you`re gonna use this, then the dedicated trangia gas-burner is a must have as rubbing alcohol just soots everything, leaving you with one giant dishwash.
@blindhowlingdrunk
@blindhowlingdrunk Жыл бұрын
@@theclaverman that’s a fair point and it gets everywhere. But you can put a little water with it and the steam cleans as it cooks. Takes a little longer though. The soot, which is proper difficult to get off is a nightmare. Gets on everything. You turn up looking like you’ve done a shift down the pit.

Great video. I used to make 🍕 pizza on flour tortillas. I first lightly toasted the tortillas before I built my pizza with sauce, pepperoni & shredded cheese. I then switched to two small square baking pans for melting the cheese. I put my tortilla in one, added my toppings then put the other pan one top to create the oven. Worked beautifully.

Great vid. Just got a 27 non-stick set for Christmas. Can’t wait to use it. 27 less bulky than 25. Also have a kettle with mine. Not had a fry up for ages, love the mini waffles. Cut sausages in half lengthways to cook through easier. Iceland (shop) used to do flat sausages. Great baking trick, and keeping stuff warm.

👍👍👍 Now that is a Breakfast worth the effort .. good idea using the aluminium balls. I have the Trangia 29 Mini. Pan size restricts one regarding storage of already-cooked scoff. I use a set of Aluminium 'Dixies' as a 'Bain Marie' to keep the already-cooked food nice and hot. A T-lite Candle / similar and a homemade folding wire tripod keeps the water in the Dixie Bain Marie bubbling until required for the Coffee. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..

Hello Dan👍😋 This looked a delicious breakfast cooked in the forest, food always taste better cooked outdoors. I think location can make a difference in the taste too, like in the forest compared to the backyard, both are good places but something about the forest brings forth a magical organic flavor. I have the Trangia 27 Hard Anodized kit, brilliant piece of gear. A bit smaller than yours but cooks amazing and cleans up so easy. They may be a bit bulky, as for weight though, I've added a cutting board, towel, soap and scubber, some utensils, and it all fits in the dedicated Trangia bag. I never understood the full on English Breakfast but admit it looks fantastic. The same kind of breakfast here would depend on the area of the USA your living, it's different all over. Great video, thanks for sharing. See you soon.

Great video! A breakfast, with that many different items to cook, would be a challenge at home with unlimited pots, pans, and an oven. If you are comparing a Trangia system to a cook set designed to boil water, then it is heavy and bulky. But, If you want to actually cook, it’s a relatively compact set.

I love my tangia 25. To be fair It has some bulk but it hasn’t become a classic for nothing… Some alcohol fuels do not produce soot but some others do a lot and this is very annoying to handle. In my area I can’t find a clean one so I have turned to a gas burner adapter. The next issue is sticking, but nowadays a non-stick pan can be obtained making things much better. There is not a cook set to tick all boxes but this ticks too many. When I pick this set I feel less regrets than others most of the times.

My trangia kit had been on every camp for the last 20 years. I’ve never got the bulk & weight argument. It’s not that much bigger and heavier than a jetboil say. 700g vs JB at what 450g ? Add the JB cooking adapter and the frying pan and you’re larger and heavier but I’ve got 2 pans. On the other side I’m often out for the day with just the burner, 3 pegs and a 500ml titanium cup. What works best for oneself in a certain situation I guess.

If you want a stove for both wood and spirit, you might find Firebox Stoves interesting. They are designed for use with spirit burners like from Trangia or Toaks; gas burners for isobutane, butane, or LP; twigs and sticks, charcoal, wood pellets; gel or tab fuel: --pretty much anything except maybe kero/gas/diesel. Most of their models fold flat and are available in stainless steel or titanium.

Isnt it bad to cook tomatos in the aluminum pot? As the acidity in the tomato reacts with the aluminum in the pot?
