Hi folks! A few questions have been asked about the mattress and we are happy to answer. The mattress wasn't included in the video so we could highlight the woodworking but it is a very practical design none the less. It (the mattress) is sectioned into three pieces that fold together against the wall where the tub is. While the "hangout" area is deployed the mattress is a seat cushion and back support but when you change the setup into a bed, the mattress folds out to cover the whole bed area. Bedding is stored in the compartment to the right of the galley cabinet and can be accessed from a top or side door. To take a tub simply move the mattress to the other side of the "hangout" area and dive in ;). Hope this helps!

@CL-gq3no5 жыл бұрын
Lots of van conversions have dedicated showers or an outside shower at least. I give these guys credit for finding a way to fulfill the client's requirements, but a tub is really extremely impractical. It probably takes 30+ gallons of water to fill that thing up enough and then you just end up dumping all of that water. The energy to heat the water is wasted too. It's a feature that in most cases would only be useful while on the grid which makes it an odd choice of priorities for a 4x4 camper. Still, kudos to the builders for making it happen.
@flopsiejmcardle5 жыл бұрын
You can sit in that tub and shower quite easy, with out being all cramped up in a tiny shower stall. filling the tub could be a rare indulgence, but something that could never happen in a stall

Wow amazing. I read your comments on the mattress and I understand about showing off the wood, I just really wish this video was a little longer to show off your creative on how you got that 4” pad in there as well and how nice that also looked. This van is amazing with everything in there and so much storage. I lived in Japan and this is very spot on. The guy can figure out a tent for a shower before his bath from here. Seeing how the Japanese will leave the water in the bath for days the 2 tanks of water and the tub filled is going too be a lot of water. You could fill up at the hot springs for a weekend and park outside of work for a week and never run out of spring water. Just put some fold out chairs and tents on the rooftop and you are living large with even a patio. (I know it was not requested by the costumer just if I was getting that van) Well anyway it’s all very well done and I see there is even just a little bit of storage by the doors when you open them in the back. I am not a big outdoor kind of guy but if I had this van I would go from hot springs to hot springs all around the world. I would be so clean. 😂 also to the beach. This van just screams “Get out there and do something, even if it’s just to watch a sunset.” Really great job guys. This is my first video I ever saw of yours and I love it so much. Hey, why not? People are willing to spend well over $100K (some of them cost over a million) for classic muscle cars, that only cost a few thousand dollars, when they first rolled off the mass production assembly lines over 50 years ago. And all you can do with those cars is drive them. You cant live, cook, take a bath, comfortably spend an entire day or sleep in them all night without waking up freezing cold with a stiff neck. Compared to practical commuter cars, these motorhomes are ridiculously overpriced, but compared to other luxury items like expensive cars and boats, they are cheaper and twice as practical. Imagine if the stock market crashed and you lost your job and your home value dropped like a rock and you were suddenly in an upside down mortgage and behind on your car and ski boat payments. This over priced toy could suddenly become your most practical possession for years to come.

Looks great, wonder why they don't answer the "approximate" cost for a build like this as many have asked. Must be a lot of $$$$ only for the rich and famous ...I'm sure. It's really a simple question ...right Campo?

You know it's going to be pricey. You know you'll never be able to afford one, hence yr over the line envious sniping.

Different clients can afford different prices, so it is wise of them to only talk price with each individual client after finding out the maximum the client will pay for the same thing.

Amazing build. find it hard to believe that people don't understand the mattress is the seat cushions rearranged. that's pretty standard. How big are your black and gray water tanks? I would have not had the hand washing sink and done a swing out storage over the toilet for double duty but an loving that big frig. Being able to customize vans is what makes them so amazing whether you are a DIY or lucky enough to get one professionally done.

Cool design! however, I would not go with a tub and opt for more storage or a bigger toilet room with a shower. The tub seems impractical and a hassle, I can see the steam from the hot water making everything damp, especially the bedding unless it's stored in a compartment. Plus when you get out of the tub you would drip water everywhere (you said he was tall so it would be a pain drying yourself in the tub and having to slouch over and not be able to stand at full height). it would be a pain to mop up, especially when your tired and want to get into bed, which brings me to my next point of having to make the bed after the bath whilst still having condensation on the wood, which could cause mold to grow on the underside of the mattress if the wood is not dried properly. All I'm imagining is one damp, soggy mess every time you use the tub unless there is really good ventilation in the van to combat condensation build up. Please correct me if I'm wrong, or tell me the design solutions to solve these problems. Sorry for the long rant! just curious to see the actual practicality of having a tub in a van.

You can store stuff in the bathtub though.

I wouldn't opt for a tub, either, because I am a shower person. But, obviously. The person they buil t this for likes to take baths.

Wilburs Film I'm feelin you brother. My thoughts exactly. Probs gets the 'little woman' to wipe and clean up. Mouldy mattress is def a probability though as bed base/table top/ seating is solid with no venting for body moisture build up as it wicks through on the underside even WITHOUT the tub and concomitant added moisture issues. Yuk.

Liz Steeds , yep! Exactly, would not be fun. Would be curious to see the condition after months of use, would also like to know if the person who owns this van, if he has had the problems we have mentioned

@@wilbursfilm8858 Doubt if we will hear about it ... The site "Campo" seem reluctant to discuss price so I imagine we'll have a snowballs chance in hell of hearing about any design problems even via the owner who probably will keep private any concerns especially if he/ she has spent a shitload of dosh on designs he/she insisted on !

How does the tub drain? Can it be filled at a camp.hook up?
@MsKraftee5 жыл бұрын
@@schizophrenicprojection5126 - you definitely wouldn't put it back in the water tanks. I imagine they just drain it onto the ground. Gray water usual isn't a problem - especially if using organic, biodegradable soaps.

I like the priorities of this customer, it's refreshing to see a separate toilet and tub/shower. You can't put a price on having separate shower and toilet amenities. The only thing this build is lacking is an Air conditioner.
