Campsite Review: Lefokeng Bush Camp, Dinokeng Game Reserve (Gauteng)[South Africa]

Camping in Gauteng
We were recently invited to go check out Lefokeng Bush Camp in Dinokeng Big Five Game Reserve, located in Gauteng, nice and close to Johannesburg and to Pretoria.
Though this fenced campsite has no electricity, it has pretty much everything else you'd need, even as a beginner camper, except maybe loads of shade. Dinokeng makes for an easy and quick getaway from the city, and spending time in the bushveld never goes amiss.
We were very impressed by how well thought out and executed Lefokeng Camp is, and will definitely be back.

That's great to hear and will be coming through real soon. Hopefully we'll recieve a nice response when booking. I tried booking at other sites there from May and until now, still no response. Based on the review I'm looking forward to camp there too. See you soon

Clearly the owners like the feedback, weather it's good or bad, and make the necessary changes from the suggestions they received. In your video you said that they should also have separate toilets for those who would just need to make use of one of those and not take up a whole bathroom. Well when we were there this weekend we were pleased to find 3 new toilets with 2 hand basins just in front of them. Bravo!! BTW We also had the same experience with the Impala. Weird?! Thanks for a great video because without it we would not have found Lefokeng!!

Nice to hear from you Sergio! Glad the owners have upgraded with more bathrooms, that was quick. They have a well run place. I wonder if there is a resident lepoard, it wasn't mentioned.

During the same weekend stay, I travelled with my wife and two children (twins 22 months). We went from Johannesburg, and the gravel to the camp was smooth, so our car (the white Audi A4 in the video) drove beautifully. Well-kept campsite, neatly demarcated and labelled, with pleasant lighting, and a very friendly host. We had a beautiful storm on Friday 😊, with a subsequent clear day on Saturday in the sparkling pool. Saturday evening, however, took a turn for the worse as we had endured hours of loud noise from a nearby pub outside of the camp, which lasted until around 3 a.m. In the morning, the owner camp came to apologize for the noise and informed us that they had made numerous unsuccessful trips to plead with the culprits. Other than that, GREAT WEEKEND. NOTE: Whatever you do…DO NOT LOSE THE RECEIPT YOU RECEIVE AT THE DINOKENG (TAU) GATE

I remember you guys! We were very impressed with the kids, great that you have them outdoors already. We were lucky to be a bit further from the external noise. That is one downside of Dinokeng on some occasions. Great campsite. They have done some updgrades now with more bathrooms. Maybe we'll cross paths again at another site 👍🏾

My understanding is that it is potable. We always have water with us so we used our own water.
