Your super fantastic overhead gantry system is now worth more than gold bars- if you get my drift. I read your part 2 before part 1, but saw you demo your super gantry with very interesting and unique features. Speedy recovery, have been down a similar path-with a near fatal respiratory illness-took 2 years to fully recover, and it was ‘baby steps for a long time. You are doing all the right things-great approach.👍🇬🇧🇦🇺 Having a highly trained/qualified nurse as your wife must be a fantastic help, both medically and in other supportive ways-kind regards to her also.🌹

New subscriber from NZ. Enjoying the videos. Being of an age where the prostrate becomes a topic of interest for the checkups I’m pleased to hear that post your op things are progressing reasonably well.

You are in my thoughts & prays daily, and i wish the recovery wasn't so painful for you. I know only to well how those pain killers affect the head and i am glad you have got off them and are self managing. It was such a relief to hear they got all the margins, yes the surgeons and nurses are amazing. and also amazing is the school support for Daniel, its one thing we often forget about and that is how what happens to us affects our kids. so yeah its important to include them in all that stuff. As you will be home for awhile, I will have to get around to showing you how to TIG weld (sitting down of course) so plenty of time for practice while recovering. Andy

Thanks for the update Cam, great to hear that you're doing well. Looking forward to the next update. It's extremely interesting to hear the details of what's involved and what you went through. I'm 37 at the moment, so I may have this to look forward to. I am pretty sure my grandfather went through this - but he wasn't happy to talk openly about it, as you are. So it's great that you are comfortable sharing the info with those of us that otherwise have no idea what happens. Cheers, Craig

Hopefully its something you wont have to worry to much about Craig. If it does become an issue down the track and at your age now I'm sure there will be other more less invasive treatments that will give the same outcomes as the removal path I took. Anyway I want to get back into the machining business and just do a short update at the end of the video's just so it lets others know what to expect and that getting those PSA tests done is crucial for early diagnosis and treatment. This does not happen to often. I watched / listened to the whole video without skimming, lol. Good to have an update on how things are going for you. The worse thing about Post Op. Is the boredom. Trying to find things to fill in the time ( and there is plenty of it ) I remember my Post Op after a knee reconstruction. Watched plenty of video,s slept Alot. ( this was pre-internet too ) Being a die hard motorcyclist ( the reason for the Op ) plenty of time to dream / read about different motorcycles, lol. Even made time to make the plastic models of them too ??? Funny thing is they came out looking perfect, as i had plenty of time to take my time. Enjoy your down time as you will be grateful for it once everything gets back to normal. Good to hear from. All the Best. Peter.

Hello Cam. I am fairly new to your channel. I too had prostate surgery on June 24th. I hope your recovery goes well and it was nice that you mentioned your wonderful wife, Rose being there for you every step of the way. I know my wife Shelly has been terrific also and I don’t know what I would have done without her by my side. Take care and if you have any questions or was to talk I am available. All the best, Norm in Arizona

G'Day Norm, thankyou for taking the time to comment. I hope you are traveling in a positive way and feeling improvements as you go through your recovery. As you mention having a very supportive and loving wife makes such a difference in that recovery. Next week will be my 4th week post surgery and 3rd week since the Catheter removal. There has be a steady improvement in my continence level since the Catheter removal but that is tempered by the bad days that make you feel your back at square one. Having the right frame of mind and being aware this is not a lineal recovery and bad days are part of it is very important. I'd love to know how you a travelling and any thoughts, advice or experience you can pass on would be very welcome. You can contact me on cmckeown.1@bigpond.com Cam

Cam, what a rip snorter of message you have given to many people here! As you could imagine, when the boys at work said you had done a you tube post about your post op, I was a bit horrified of what I might hear or see but this message is so important and explains so many facets of the real life things and challenges you tackled. If it gets one more person to get checked when they normally would not have then that is a difference made!We all miss you at work and can't wait for Baked bean Friday when you are back again. Thanks for sharing your story - Frenchie

Thanks for that pep up Karen, its great to hear I didn't make it sound to morbid and that there is a real message there. Just had the Catheter out and it was more uncomfortable than painful, all the wound dressings are off and all looks good although my ripping physique has taken a real beating. Back into the pelvic floor exercises to face the next challenge on the list. Yep, I'm looking forward to getting back to work with all you guys, not just for the work but to get back into that delightful banter and to get back into life. Does this also mean you are now a very valued subscriber to my channel and will be making many comments and suggestions on my machining projects! Cam

Hang in there, you are on the mend now. Your advice is good. I had the surgery myself and wish I had shared it with freinds and family because I really could of used their support. Thanks for sharing, it is a hard thing to do.

Thankyou for your comment Mike. Very much a shock when you get a result like this. However I look at it as a life saving result and dread what the out come could have been a couple of years down the track if this wasn't picked up now. Lesson for every man, get the checks done every year after the age of 40. My old boss was picked up at age 42 with an aggressive prostrate cancer, that was 18 years ago and he has lived a normal life ever since. Now just got to heal a little bit more and reduce the incontinence back and I can start making chips in the workshop. Cam

Good on you mate - great of you to put this out there as a lot of blokes don't take this seriously (poor old Bruce Mansfield as a prime tragic example) was going to have a joking go about no machining content but your presentation was too an important public service - looking forward to your quick full recovery as I have only just discovered your channel..

Yep Ian, amen to that. I never what to go near the things again. That pain was worse than the post Op pain. 2 weeks on them must have been murder towards the end. Cam

Cam you are in my thoughts. Glad the outcome is in the green. Thank you for putting this out here and sharing your experience. I have not had this issue, but you reinforce setting a record and watching the trend. Glad you are on the mend. Rest assured my wife Roxie would follow your Rose’s same tough love. She still laughs at me as if I lost my mind when I ask her for a coffee refill. LOL. “Your legs aren’t broken and you certainly are not malnourished Daniel - get it your own chubby self” Ah love at its finest. Time to get your brain back in the game. Body will come later. I had the good fortune to meet a former undefeated world kickboxing champion Bill “Superfoot” Wallace. He shared that after two hip replacements and one knee (while teaching kicking seminars no less) the only thing keeping him alive is not slowing down. Sounds maybe trite at first but on reflecting on his words it was a glimpse into a champion. Yes he hurts everyday, but pain is a big part of life. I believe folks are put in our path to teach us if we are open to learning. Well Cam you remain my hero. I hope one day to shake your hand and say thank you properly. From the first of your videos I saw I knew that I was watching a champion. Always inspiring to watch your masterful skills in the shop and your great constant desire for knowledge. Thank you for your support with my little channel and being such a force for good. My wife says hey those folks are just internet friends. I counter that I consider them personal friends and can name more of them on multiple continents than I can name neighbors here on my local street. LOL! These friends would walk in my garage and not judge (well maybe not condemn) my mess - LOL. Best to the family and little Danny. Glad the school has something for him to lean on to help. I lost a brother when I was ten (he was twelve) and there really wasn’t anybody I could lean on so I did my best. But, it could have been easier if there was a process to help me through the steps of grieving. Now try not to lose your mind via sitting on the bench. That keyboard is right there. I would love some CAD video instruction if you feel up to it. Or, plan that next project. Hang in there buddy. Best regards from Detroit area Michigan - 🇺🇸. If you need something send me an address and we will ship it down.

Thankyou for your support during my recovery Dan. Gunna start just doing simple hand fitting work in the shop in the next couple of days. I completed all the machining work prior to going into hospital in preparation during the recovery period. Absolutely sick of sitting/lying around at the moment. Back to the specialist this afternoon to have all the incision dressings removed but more importantly I get the Catheter Tube out so looking forward to a bit more freedom. That special time that me and Rose share together first thing in the morning while we wash out the catheter bags will now be a thing of the past, thank God for that. I must admit all my neighbors have been fantastic and while I type they are mowing the lawns and doing the edges. Got a load of wood all cut up ready to go from another neighbor. We are very blessed to have neighbors like we have. Thanks again Dan Cam
