I figured that whatever the PS4 Pro/XOX can run at 4K(with upscaling of course) at 30-60fps, the 1070 will do it as well. The 8GB of GDDR5 is what makes it a very capable card, still.

If you have a 3 fan GTX 1070 you can overclock it a bit and it'll run games like gta 5 in 4k at 100-110 fps

The unfortunate part is that Nvidia didn't implement integer scaling in their drivers for the 10-series, with it only starting at the 16-series. That would at least allow running at 1080p on a 4K display without the image turning mushy. For this reason I'd think twice at least about buying any 10-series GPU for use with a 4K monitor. I'll be buying a used 4K monitor for productivity reasons, and that's why I was checking out this video. I'm prepared I might have to run either very heavy upscaling in more modern games, or just simply run at 1080p and allow the display to upscale it. I did buy a used GTX 1070 in 2023 for 70€ and it's been amazing for that price. My current monitor is 1920x1200, and the GTX 1070 was fine for Baldur's Gate 3 at native 1920x1200 with mostly high settings, mostly locking out 60fps outside some occasional dips under that. I was running with a R5 5600X and 16gigs of RAM, and most performance issues came down to the game slowing down a bit over time. Restarting the game fixed that though. In The Witcher 3 I can run mostly at a locked 60fps when using FSR2 Quality and outputting 1920x1200, with settings between medium and Ultra+. Without FSR2 Quality that drops to around 40-45fps. Ray tracing was an absolute no go, with FPS dropping to 20ish with low global illumination, and down to single digits when turning on more RT options. I was really pleasantly surprised by FSR2 in The Witcher 3. If I take screenshots and A/B them, I can spot the differences, but when I did it in game where I have to go to the menu, that acts as enough of a "palate cleanser" that I couldn't tell a difference unless I focused really really hard. Mostly I could see a very slight film grain effect, which actually isn't unappealing, making for kind of a cinematic experience. Meanwhile in BG3 the FSR1 upscaling I thought was terrible, with the characters turning into wax cabinet versions of themselves. Therefore if you're planning on using FSR to upscale things, I'd certainly recommend checking which FSR version the games you want to play are using.
