Baseball rules regarding the DH are pretty weird. And now, two way player Shohei Otahni wants to much that all up for the Los Angeles Angels this year. Let's find out what happens if he tries to DH for himself, and vice versa. Can we get 10000000 likes?

I once read that NCAA college rules allow a pitcher to be the DH and then remain in the game as the DH even after being relieved on the mound. This is likely permitted because colleges have a decent number of two-way players.

Essentially yes. Japanese baseball teams are sponsored, and generally named after their sponsors. So technically, it's the Yomuri Giants, not the Tokyo Giants. (Yomiuri is a big publishing company.)

If a DH comes into the field he can do so but the team loses the DH privilege. So he can technically come into the game to pitch if he leaves the game the pitcher that replaces him would also have to hit.

I really don't see how this is confusing...pitcher or DH, not both... UNLESS You want to delve into the world of College Baseball where a player CAN be designated as a "Pitcher/DH" and start the game as the pitcher, then remain in the game as the DH when he leaves the mound. Seen that one in person DOZENS of times.

There is also a rule that says that the DH doesnt have to be for the pitcher. The DH could be used for a right fielder who cant hit. Ex. Ohtani is pitching. The right fielder is a bad batter, so there is a dh that bats for the right fielder and ohtani can be in the batting order

maybe this would be a double switch, but could they when he is done pitching on the days he is scheduled to pitch and be DH move him to outfield (take that position on the hitting list), put a new pitcher in for him, and make the outfielder coming out the new DH? or would they just have to do all those moves except choose a new DH?

Once you move the DH to the field yo forfeit the right to use a DH the rest of the game for your team. Your team has to play by National League rules for the rest of the game.

No. You cannot DH for yourself. If he is the DH and he takes the field in any position the DH is gone.

Like in other American sports there is a difference in how the pros interpret the rules and how the colleges do. In the NCAA the pitcher can start the game as both the pitcher and DH and remain the DH after he has been taken out from the mound. But the DH rules are otherwise the same, if a DH enters the game to field or pitch the DH spot is eliminated in the lineup.

Best part of this is, it's exactly the opposite in NCAA baseball. One player *can* be both the pitcher and DH, and can continue as one after being replaced as the other.

Or just get rid of the DH and teach EVERYONE to hit not just position players. Ohtani is a perfect example of if you teach they will learn instead of the pitchers cant hit attitude that's prevalent in North America

He can bat more in the AL. He can DH when he's not pitching, which is 5 games of possibly hitting before he pitches again because the Angels are trying a 6-man rotation this season. In the NL he would get to hit while he pitches, yes, but he would only have 2 or 3 at bats every 5 games, because almost no manager in the MLB would allow a pitcher to play the outfield on a day off

"So on the days that Ohtani is pitching as the starter, even if listed as the DH..." You can't list a player twice, so this is an impossible scenario. And there can't be a fake "pitcher" listed either, because the starting pitcher must pitch to one batter. In other words, Ohtani's sole role is as the pitcher, and the team has no DH at all, similar to the Bumgarner in Oakland game. Also, you misspelled Ohtani in the video title. You might want to fix that to help your SEO.
