So happy I found this video. I’m a 22 y/o black man who’s looking to adopt once I’m ready and I needed this. Can’t wait to add to the number of black men who adopt especially who’s adopting older children.

Kayon I’m very passionate about seeing these older kids get adopted and believe in lots of cases single men have an advantage. I would love to see you do this and please feel free to add me on Facebook and reach out when the time comes anyone wanting to adopt older I got all the time in the world for!

This video came at a perfect time. I’ve been researching this for my daughter. She wants a sister. But Google results haven’t been too kind about how hard it is for a single man to adopt.

Hi Nasir, Tavis is a great example that a single man can definitely adopt! The internet can be cruel. Best wishes to you in your journey!

I'm very interested in adopting a baby in the near future. I know that I want to adopt as a single man and have wanted that for years. I'm very nervous about the process because I have felt like everything has been stacked against me. But maybe not! Thank you for sharing!!

Love how he mentioned that it’s not for perfect people.

100%. You shouldn't have to feel like adoption is some type of competition. Adoption is about the children. Perfect isn't what the children are looking for at all; they are looking for love, respect, and stability. Thank you so much for watching and supporting my channel

Hi 👋🏾 Shaikh, You're welcome 😊. This video was so important to both Tavis and myself. There are so many single men that want to grow their families but feel they need a spouse to do that. They don't! Glad to see someone post a very informative video. I was always told it was harder for single males to adopt because people naturally assume they will abuse the kids they adopt. So I'm surprised to see this wasn't the case for him

Hi 👋🏾 Kalamari, thank you for watching. Tavis is great and I'm happy he was able to come and share his experience. I too had the misconception that it would be almost impossible for a single male to adopt. This is why is so important for me to educate myself and my viewers and break the myths out there and provide real life experiences. Best wishes to you if you decide to pursue adoption, it truly is amazing and you can adopt alone!!! Thank you so much for watching and supporting my channel. Was not the case at all bud! I do think for some kids more traditional families might be a better fit but for the majority of older kids it just works out so well being single because so many obstacles are taken out the equation. Adoption can strain a marriage very easily honestly

I really want to it’s just hard to find the balance between maintaining their privacy and speaking out. If it was just me I’d be talking about it all day long I deff want to encourage more and more but at the same time we do have to be mindful of bringing attention to it I do want to do more videos and do more to encourage others to adopt especially older

Real talk? I HATE when people say things like, “Oh, God bless you for adopting,” or “You’re such a good person,” or “I’m sure you saved their life,” when they find out our story! Like, NO! I’m just like you: I mess up, make mistakes, and learn as I go. And do you know what that means? You’re a good enough person to adopt, too!!!
@taviscarnegie18272 жыл бұрын
Yes x10. Adopting doesn’t make you a good person or a hero and as said in video adoption is for everyone and I’d argue the most amazingly perfect people…prob aren’t cut out for it! So you’re right I am a normal person and embrace it!

This has been said to me so many times too when I tell people we are hoping to adopt! It really bothers me. It's such a relief to me when someone just says "congratulations!"
@Danielle90R Жыл бұрын
This comment rubs me the wrong way 😕! There shouldn't be anything wrong with people giving compliments on things if they are sincere 😊. And, lets be honest, most people, especially in non-white households, don't/won't adopt children for a number of reasons. So, it is a good/nice thing that should be congratulated. So, just be happy that people are being positive about it and move on. And, not view it as an "UGH 😩! The same compliment(s) again 😒!" 🙄 And, this is coming from someone who is used to getting insults/a lot of negative comments for of her life ☹️🙃.
