Welcome to TomFM! In today's Football Manager 2020 Experiment video we're going to be seeing if it's possible for a striker to score 100 goals in a season. What's the highest number of goals scored in a single season by a footballer? It's 73 scored by Lionel Messi. As a result, this is quite an ambitious FM20 experiment that might not come off given that no striker in the history of professional football has scored 100 goals in a season. Today, with the help of the Football Manager 2020 editor, we might see a footballer score 100 goals in a season.

I could imagine, that in your attempt the other perfect players in your team „stole“ the goals from the player who should have scored 100 goals. Maybe you shouldn‘t make the support players perfect. The other players should be terrible in scoring and perfect in passing, dribbling, crossing and so on. And you should also change the player traits in the ingame editor, so that the rest of the team prefers to pass instead of trying to score and only the perfect player prefers to score. These are just ideas, I don’t know if they really work.

In a season, a perfect FM player can't even score more than Messi in that 50 goal season only in La Liga... He's just too good

yes it can, i made a player at fylde the youngest player on the game and the best player in the world. 40 games, 64 goals only in the league.

I actually managed to make this happen, although I lost the save file, however, I made a super tall (210cm) player with my name and then gave him 200 OVERALL. I support Arsenal so I set him up there. I also managed the team so It would be easier to look at the team in depth, I signed the best players with the in game editor (but not TOO good, just the ones with loads of potential), made a formation of a lone striker and 2 attacking midfielders with wingers in a pyramid form towards the goal, so essentially a 4-3-2-1. and after about 6-7 seasons my player scored 117 goals over all the competitions hope this helps, i know it's possible to do this!

You gotta make him tall as hell, and instead of making everyone else 200CA you should just make them have perfect passing stats and set up their traits so they pass out of shot, and change his traits so he always shoots. You might have to be manager as well to set up the tactics so the team just pumps the ball into the box so he scores. I doubt it would be possible anyways, no one in FM has ever been as good as messi and Ronaldo in real life, not in any of my games atleast, but i think there are more ways to find out what the most someone could score is. Great video anyways

Also putting them in the lower English leagues would work too, 46 game league seasons with the FA trophy, FA cup and carabao. The defence and goalies will also be shockingly bad so more chance at success

I'd have made sure the player was really selfish - make the teamwork 1 or something like that.

I managed to get up around 70 in English tier 10. I was using a 4-3-3 and my team ability was about 10% higher than the next best team.

What about in Brazil they play loads off games there

Thought the same, I think that a top club in Brazil can have up to 60~70 competitive matches if it remains in all competitions, however it's physically impossible to play it all, reaching sometimes 7 games in 14 days. And also, Brazil it's too evenly matched, he would have to add a couple of players to unbalance it

in the brazilian leagues they play in two leagues a regional one and the actual league also have copa libertadores and the legue cup so lots of games available to get 100 goals

When you increased all of his attributes the AI probably didn't play him as an out and out striker. Perhaps only increase the attributes for a striker such as Finishing and Composure.

few years back, i think fm12 i bought leonardo damiao after 3-4 seasons, he scored over 50 goals in a league, but i didnt play him against weakest team and also he was subbed in second half in most games i was wining with2+ goals. he didnt play in any cups, also he didnt play in easy champions leages matches. if i played him more i think hed easy score 100+ goals for me. he was freaking beast. like i never saw striker this good

On FM19 I was Celta Vigo manager (about 2-3 seasons into the game) and I inherited Michael Gregoritsch who had been signed by the previous manager. I don’t really know how this happened tbh but he scored 65 and 56 goals in my first two seasons as manager! Most I’ve had by any player! It was incredible.

I've had Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace in FM 20. He scored 78 goals for me in 50 games as an inside forward. We won the premier league and europa league

you probably should only buff up the stats that are relevant to a certain position. For example, buff up the stats for a "complete forward", and probably make him more selfish and not good at corners. Then make sure everyone else is mainly good at getting the ball to the "best striker", so buff up their passing, corners, etc.

I got 39 goals in a premier league season from a regen with Arsenal. He was a lone striker played him in a 4231 as a poacher tiki taka. Work ball in to box seems to work with two wingers in fm20.

Make him bigger, and the players around not good just perfect passing and vision etc, and traits like psses befor shooting etc

It is defo possible, i have a front three of Mbappe (AF) (42 goals, 30 assists), Kane (DLF)(27 goals, 16 assists) and Halland (poacher) (111 goals, 35 assists). No attributes have been edited jst transfer budget obviously lol. team is liverpool and formation is 433 with two box to box and one advanced playmaker. Gegenpress with high line with Van Dijk and Wesley Fofana at CB, their pace means i also do not concede to many. Overal pl season 170 scored, 27 conceded and finished on 101 points.

Just to share ... I try this before ... highest i ever got to was 85 in a single season a couple of times and once was achieve at prem league level but only once ... you need to find a player who has consistently scored lots of goals in a season over a few years ... i found one in Ross Allen ... though he was in lower leagues ... he do score goals for fun ... though now he is in his 30s, back in fm 2017 onward i always edit him as a perfect player but the best ever i got to was 85 as mention and was in fm 2017 as he was younger ... i used him from lower leagues to prem league ...

The goalkeepers and defenders in Scotland are far too good for a player to score enough goals. The same goes, even more obviously, for european competitions. Lincoln is a much better try IMO or as others have suggested, Brazil.

Put him as the lone striker in a perfect team in a terrible league that plays a lot of games. Make the teams tactics focus on him scoring goals and the other players as support.

It's possible for a player to score 100 goals in a season if you choose a lower league. In fm19 I simulated a perfect player playing in the Portugal Championship and the lad scored 89 league goals and 23 cup goals

Play him non league, set manger to play a one striker formation and have creative players but with low shooting and PPM of look to pass rather than shoot. Only way I can see it happening IMO.

You need to manage the team and add him up front and have select this squad when possible and holiday from there i imagine he didn't play every game upfront in this experiment

The exploit tactic in fm12 had messi scoring 180 goals per season. To me the worst ME of the series to date.

I have had Mbappe score 122 in a season but that was with a heavily packed non league team. So yeah it can be done in short but you have to take all the best players to the worse league
