Couldn't you make this argument for anything. Why meet your wife at all before proposing, don't you want to be surprised by her personality after marriage.

The women you refer to were obviously all chaste and their husbands were completely entitled to see them without any clothing because they were MARRIED. What I'm saying is, it doesn't sit right with me that a potentially large number of NON-MAHRAM dudes who have no legal right (IMO) to see your wife without hijab may have seen her simply because they brought a proposal to her family at some point in the past. They were/are nothing to her and she was/is nothing to them. Why should they be allowed to see anything beyond what the general public can see? Anything beyond seeing her face isn't necessary at all IMO to make a decision about marriage.

You can easily have your mother or sister see what the bride looks like without Hijab and describe it to you. The evidence mentioned here does not say anything about a non-Mahram man being permitted to see the Awrah of a woman for any reason before marriage.

@@BD-hm3fb You don't need to see someone's awrah to know if they are pleasing to you since their overall appearance (height, weight, face, etc.) will already be apparent. If someone is pleasing to you with their hijab on, then they will usually be even more pleasing without their hijab as well. The mother and sister will simply verify that they have hair and aren't bald.

I will admit that sheik Assimal Hakim is a very good scholar but he only stated the two opinions so in reality its up to us to decide. The evidence that is used for this opinion is not good evidence. There is no proof whatsoever showing that it is permissible. The hadiths we find tell the people to glance at the women, especially a particular hadith of muhammad s.a.w. telling a man to look at the EYES of a certain ansari woman he wanted to marry. This shows a more emphasis on the face which can be proof towards the majority opinion. And a future spouse is still non mahrem. A woman may not reveal her adornment to a non mahrem man UNLESS there is proof that allows her to uncover. The handbalis have no good proof. According to Yasir, its just so that he can see if he likes her (awrah). Yet this claim is only based on our own logic and no proof from the hadith. You should look at the face for her beauty, and the hands to see her weight/plumpness Yes this is a very long message but this needs to get out. We have to use our own logic and not rely on just an opinion that uses their own logic rather than the meanings of hadith. So please brother/sister becaredul in the opinion you follow/. If there is no proof that the opinion is right, and it sounds wrong to us, we shouldnt follow it. and especially since this is a minor opinion adding on to the two other cons of following this opinion

Even if she was grownup - there is nothing wrong conversing with the opposite gender respectively when there is a genuine need or beneficial purpose as long as it's done within the shariah guidelines. He did mention that the majority opinion of 3 of the 4 major schools of thought all agree that a woman can’t take off her hijab for a non mahram. But he didn’t mention the evidence the majority is using.... he usually does 🤔

I’ve been following the sheikh for over 8 years and this isn’t his style to skip critical information. What evidences do the majority of scholars base their opinion on?
