Did you end up replacing the diff? Does it still make the noise?
@chriscrowder85058 жыл бұрын
Sounds like it could be rear boots / joints rubbing themselves. My sportsman did it when I first got it but it hasn't done it in about 500 hours.
@PeteWoronowski8 жыл бұрын
I would agree a bad pinion and ring gear. What a drag.

Just a follow-up....... FYI, check out the front end often on that Can Am. From most people around here who have experience with Can Am, the front ends tend to not hold up to a lot of abuse. I have heard of some people having to get all new bearings, tie rods, and bushings after a low as 1000 km (approx. 620 miles). Just a consideration.

Mine has made that sound since day 1. Was told it was normal because it has straight cut gears. I call bs on that.
@MudPuppyOffroad6 жыл бұрын
yeah its just shimmed wrong, they told me the same thing
@ianangles20848 жыл бұрын
I've never heard that but I have grinded gearsn but that might be pinion plate and shaft maybe I'm not to sure.

Connor Schaub yeah it is normal which is freaking pathetic. this diff exploded. and before that it was so loud I needed ear plugs

can AMS are known for extremely weak diffs and not being shimmed properly from the factory
@MudPuppyOffroad8 жыл бұрын
+Dustin Galloway yep def got one of those bad ones. They have been having that issue for 10 years now you'd think they would have it figured out by now

+Christian Amy ya you would think. so glad I got the Rubicon now. I was originally gonna get a can am
@dsmith32398 жыл бұрын
IMO, that sounds like a bad pinion and ring gear. Possible not shimmed properly from the factory and is binding and chewing each other up after only 100 miles.
@MudPuppyOffroad8 жыл бұрын
that's what I'm thinking thanks man

Had to get a new 2 new diffs because of that mine is all stock to

Is your Can Am sell under warranty..? If so...get them to fix it free of charge.!!?

+The Acadian ATVing I don't let other people work on my stuff. Dealer's have screwed up so much stuff on my buddies bikes it's insane. Apparently having your bike in the shop for weeks waiting warranty repairs is just part of owning a can am lol this pos is getting traded in on a 850 sportsman pretty soon
