In today's video we take a look at the Can Am Maverick Sport XRC. A 1000cc N/A machine designed to perform in the rocks. Dave shares his thoughts on the machine and walks you around a 2020 Sport XRC and Chad Hughes' XRC that he raced at King of the Hammers.

I have the 2019 Maverick Sport XRC, and LOVE it very much! It does everything I want it to do, but like you I love riding in the mountains on trails. It does very well in that kind of terrain. One of the first things I did to it was install the "Rok Bloks" mud guards. (I don't know if I spelled it correctly) But either way they work wonders when it comes to keeping the mud out of the cockpit.

In your opinion how good is the suspension? Do you find it lacking or does it provide a nice smooth ride? We had a rzr xp1000 and it was terrible

wayne owen We LOVE our RokBlokz-that is the company spelling 😜They keep the cow pie spray and mud off of you and pushes the dust out away from the car. Well worth installing. 👍😎

It really seems to be an awesome machine. Ever since we stumbled on your channel months ago I've been checking them out. Yes, we do need to get all of us together and go ride. Bring your sport xrc down and let's see how it does at Sand Hollow. Ride the dunes and the rocks

I have a 2021 XRC and i $#@% love it,i wouldn t trade it for $1000000!!!!!Any1 looking for the best bang for ther buck should look at the XRC hands down,this machine isn t just a rock crawler its a very capable trail machine aswell and you can certainly scoot through the tightest trails without any problems as a matter of fact my buddy has an outlander and he stopped looking back to see where i am cause he knows i m right behind him!!!!!😁

Do you feel that this machine would be well suited for tight trail riding, with a limited amount of mud when creek crossing?

I got the Can-Am Sport Max and went through Moab trails easily, plenty of clearance, and the XRC is even more capable. Engine is plenty powerful for everything I do.

Deranged Off-Road what did you think of its steering? On par , slow or fast?

Greg Candor I haven't driven it enough to really form an opinion on the steering. But I didn't notice anything weird about it

The XRC is a stout looking sxs, if you do decide to get one i think it would make for some great content

Get the Dynoijet tune or a tune with a after market exhaust. The Dynojet tune was a bit shocking at first. I run higher octane maybe higher than I should, but trying to get 93 with Boostane. The tune helps the machine take advantage of the higher octane (timing), increases the rev limiter, etc. It's friggen sweet! I ride the heck out of mine and it is durable. I came to many of the same conclusions as you on my last review of it. It's becoming a crowded field and machines like the the Sport have been overlooked, it's a much better machine then it's specs.

I have a good friend that has the 2020 xrc. His name is Brian Fisher, Fishers off road. Look him up, I’m sure he will answer any questions you may have. I’ve seen enough that I’m selling my ATV and going for the xrc. I also like the maverick sport. The sport 1000r is a great way to get into a quality sxs at a good price. Thanks, and my wife doesn’t know either...lol

I recently shared my opinion on the 1000r DPS that I’ve owned for the past few months; while they’re not the same exact machine, they’re pretty close. Feel free to give it a watch if this is a sxs you’re seriously considering picking one up.

Thanks, just now watched it. Lots of good points. The squeaky breaks and rust on the frame welds seems to be classic Can Am. My Defender has the same things. It's nice to hear some cons on the machines because we know it's not perfect. However, nothing I've ever heard has really turned me off on it. My two biggest concerns are power and suspension. Power because we do ride the dunes occasionally, but maybe only 15-20% of my riding is out there. So in all likelihood the power is probably not really an issue. Suspension I'm afraid may be lacking with only just under 15" of travel in the xrc. I haven't had enough seat time to really make a judgment on that.

@@DerangedOffRoad I've never driven mine in the dunes, but I suspect that due to the lack of travel, it'd be a bucking bronco. I don't think the power would be much of an issue, but I could certainly be wrong.

Here's my opinion, the downside is the aftermarket parts like cage or suspension will be hard to find if at all. I might be wrong but like you said, you don't see them around. One other thing IMO is it's not a seater. Good luck, and remember it's easier to ask for forgiveness then permission. LOL

Why not the x3 Rc 64” it’s cheaper than this model better suspension and 20 more ponies plus the aftermarket parts are there it was a toss up for me too choose the x3 haven’t looked back!

You make valid points. My biggest problem with the x3 is seating position and getting in and out. Not sure if I like the more laid back seating position. My mind isn’t completely made up yet. Still considering the options. Also the 64” X3 RC has an MSRP of $23,999. The Sport X RC is $21,499. Thanks for watching! -Dave

I purchased mine 22k out the door with a roof and lower doors out of Oklahoma the sitting position does take some getting use to but for long rides it is vary comfortable they make seat risers for smaller guys I’m not really tall either and it’ll help! Good luck to you can’t wrong with either one!

I'm thinking the same thing for both in XMR versions. One big thing is that you can upgrade the 120hp to over 300 using Evo stuff.

I have had one for 3 months now. 700 miles later I still think I made the right choice. I had a teryx4 and I loved it but the xrc is everything the teryx was and more. There built just as strong and the suspension is a lot better. I live in southern Utah and it does anything I throw at it.

If you are thinking about getting one, check out Polaris/can am world in mesquite. They have the best prices I could find.

Muddy boy Offroad I had a teryx4 for 3 years. They are tanks, this xrc I am telling you is beefed up compared to stock can ams. It’s every bit as tough. I have tipped mine over and nothing happened except a few scratches. I did not think anything could compare on toughness to the teryx but when you see the xrc in person you will see how strong they are built.

I couldn’t agree with you more! I love that little rig...I love the size of it. I’m 50% dunes and 50% AZ desert so it interests me. I personally feel like a lot of these SXS are getting too big. I just can’t part with the YXZ!

Very happy with my 2020 Can Am maverick sport xxc. I put a set of 34 inch superatv warrior X/T's on the ol girl. She is a little BILLYGOAT.

Yeah I’m not sure why their rock crawler doesn’t have beadlocks. They missed the mark there. The non adjustable grab bar doesn’t seem like a big deal for my use...... at this time. It will probably be an issue when harnesses get installed

I live in the Black Hills so I ride a lot of tight trails. I have a turbo XP and the turbo is great in the mountains. I would never own a machine without one. You can steal the 18 and 19 turbo models.
