Our resident Idiot & camera operator Jack is out in Bentonville with Trials legend Martyn Ashton and EX DH racer Neil Donoghue for a day of MTB wheelie skills! Will Jack be able to learn how to wheelie in a single day? Can he bring these skills back to the UK and join the #WheelieCrew?

some people cant get the braking and it is slightly harder to learn on a FS bike, the best tip i can think of giving that's not offered here is to have your rear brakes dialed in really well and move the brake lever in a little to get the middle of it closer to your index finger. Dont stop pedaling, pedaling keeps your Center Of Gravity back, braking brings your COG down.... So, the steps are, lean back, yank on the bars with your index finger on the rear brake, pedal.... When your going to fall forward and lose your wheelie, lean back a little or pull the bars in towards you, when you start feeling like your going over backwards, apply the brakes, keep pedaling. in a 100 foot long wheelie, you will have made about twenty little braking corrections, when you get good at later, it will be all in leaning

A lot of people say to begin the stroke at 12 on your strong foot, and I got this to work pretty well, but I recently switched to starting with my opposite foot at the 9 o’clock and it has really helped me more consistently get to the balance point. That being said, lots of consistent practice will be needed no matter what.
