Because the dlc is built around a mechanic that buffs the f out of them... all of the bosses have over 40k hp and deal 2k damage per swing... The hippo shouldn't be beating the likes of Godfrey and Maliketh but it does only causs of inflated stats...

The whole theme of scarlet rot is the decay of old and birth of knew not complete obliteration or deletion. Note in lore Marika warred with the gloam eye queen to remove the very existence of death. The black flames are created from the power of destin death, the very thing that enables the death of the elden beast.

I would love to know if the fights would went differently if the enemies wouldn't just let them get nuked and instead would avoid the scarlet aeonia. I understand that the scarlet rot is part of her arsenal, but it's clear the bosses aren't programmed to dodge something like that and thus would love to the the fights unfold without the aeonia.

She would have been defeated most of the time then. Look at how much damage the bosses were doing with just a hit and look at how much damage Melina did before the rot started to consume the bosses health bar. She basically did nothing after releasing her rot at Bayle and 3/4 of his health was gone. @@kademelien9363

Give malenia the same stats as dlc bosses and you will see Romina being “steamrolled” Don’t take this as offensive tho it was just an observation that those fights were unfair for malenia side in the first place

@@Tohsakaust except she has two separate health bars and a passive lifesteal mechanic and both of these combined triple or quadruple her healthpool and the rot damage over time triples her damage at the very least. These fights were unfair, yes, but not on her side, and this video proves just that. Even with lower scaling she won every single encounter but one.

Because its percentage based damage, notice how on every single boss even the enemy it ticks the same amount of your visual health bar it doesnt matter if you have 1000000hp you will loose around 3 or 4% of your max hp

Lore wise, you're right about base malenia but I think goddess of rot at least beats messmer and an injured bayle, with prime bayle being arguable and consort radahn being stronger because miquella is a god of the greater will ( from my understanding) which has more influence than the outer god of rot

Malenia's scarlet flower power takes away a lot of HP, and Bosses don't dodge it like players do, so it's a bit unfair to compare the second phase

All the DLC BOSSES ARE EXTREMELY BUFFED WITH HP AND DAMAGE. On a whole DIFFERENT level. They still got CLAPPED against MALENIA. A lot of them couldn’t even take MALENIA to her 2nd phase. Not really surprised because MALENIA is literally End Game. Even after the DLC

She also has a lot of things most bosses don't. She heals on each hit, has a buffed up version of scarlet rot, goes back up to full health with her second phase, and her second phase starts off with a scarlet rot nuke which the AI of other bosses just run into. I honestly had more trouble with 2 or 3 of the DLC bosses than I ever did with Malenia, but that's because I could do simple things like dodge, which negates 2 of her advantages, which means almost every boss in the game would beat her if they had the type of AI that let them effectively dodge since she has low poise and isn't that tanky for a late game boss.

The only reason Scarlet Rot carried her here is cause every boss in the DLC is scaled way higher than her. It was essentially the only thing that could damage them.

It was normal scaling, but the Scarlet Aeonia carried because of the hyper rot proc and the defenses.

Nope, this is base Malenia. She's actually just that broken. She stole around 40k health in some of these fights, meaning she'd have about 73k health, which is the same as NG+7 Consort Radahn. She's got infinite poise on 80% of her attacks, so the only time she can get stance broken is when she's neutral. And she's got a guaranteed Scarlet Rot proc that for some fucking reason deals massive percentage damage, meaning literally nothing without rot immunity can win. I said this prior to the DLC coming out; Malenia will never be beat. People anticipated that the DLC bosses could do it, but I already said they can't because she doesn't play by the rules. Normally bosses that deal percentage damage can't inflict it with abandon (Maliketh), and none of them have lifesteal or moves that give them infinite poise. She has all of that. She's by far the most braindead boss they ever made. That's why I no hit her daily as a summon for randoms like a budget Let Me Solo Her. Nothing is more satisfying than denying this dogshit piece of trash boss the opportunity to even land a single hit on you with her horseshit mechanics.

Lore-wise, according to the monument, she stalemated grown Radahn without using her rot, and then defeated him using it, then she becomes stronger in her second pahse. In the DLC we meet young Radahn as the first phase of the final boss, if we use the logic that the final boss is stronger than all the previous ones, then Malenia is stronger than all bosses in the DLC except maybe Miquella+Radahn.

@@gojicandle8188 no, nothing on Melania is lowered to a reasonable degree to compensate. Her move set is the strongest of any base game boss, she can heal herself to full with a single waterfowl dance, and she has 2 phases with new health bars each. Maliketh for example has one of the strongest abilities in the game, destined death, yet he has some of the lowest health of late game bosses. That is compensating for an ability. If maliketh had more health or health comparable to his placement in the game, he would be the strongest boss in the game because destined death is so strong.

@@gojicandle8188 Other things lowered to compensate? She has the highest stats in the base game from the offensive side and has Lifesteal+Waterflow for the defensive side. Hers Stat line is the closest if not already on par with the early to mid DLC bosses. The thing that carries her is the hp% damage of Scarlet Rot, not just proccing a random status. If you changed her hp% tick to be a flat damage equal to Tha max damage she can deal to the highest HP player, she would get steamrolled. You are downplaying her like she isn't downright cheating her kit. The fact that she lost against Romina speaks volumes on how much she relies on that busted hp% damage. Romina is a free af boss, and she got beaten by her simply because shes immune to rot.
