Are caffeine skincare products worth it? Like, do the serums, scrubs, and facemasks actually give you as much energy as, let’s say, a Diet Coke, Monster Energy, Red Bull, or even coffee? Are you actually absorbing that energy through your skin? We put our caffeine addictions to the side to first go caffeine free and then test a new skincare routine. Just like Mia Maples loves to do with viral TikTok products and HopeScope with satisfying viral products, we’re experimenting with a whole new routine that could change the way we take care of our skins… or it may just be a bunch of bunk!

Just a note on the experiment design. It's best whenever possible for the study to be at least blind if not double blind. For example, for the lotions and soaps, put a portion of them in those generic travel bottles. Some participants are given the caffeinated product, while others are given a placebo regular soap/lotion. That way, the placebo effect can be accounted for. Otherwise, for something as vague as "feeling more energized", it's likely that the placebo effect could have an effect.

What I found most interesting is the "general haziness" described mirrors what my moderate ADHD feels like ON caffeine while unmedicated. I can do what I need to... mostly. Discovering Monster energy drinks was my lifesaver in college. And now that I've been diagnosed and am constantly and correctly medicated, I'm down to at most 2 cans of pop a day and never touching energy drinks. One in the morning if the pre-meds brain fog is really bad, so I don't forget things, one at lunch for the energy to stave off the 1-2 pm nap I naturally want to take. It's really cool seeing how 'normal' brains can and do experience what my 'abnormal' brain does when they get similarly starved of the same chemicals. It's an odd kind of relief, knowing with inadvertent proof that it really is a brain chemistry problem, not a nebulous willpower problem.

Coming from a person who not only quit drinking caffeine but also quit smoking nicotine and drinking alcohol within three months of each other and staying quit on the second two. It’s incredibly hard to find anything that isn’t water that doesn’t have caffeine in it. Even certain water brands are now adding caffeine as an alternative to energy drinks. I went a full year without caffeine and the way I did it was actually a soda stream. I used to it to carbonate my water so I still got the bubbles of soda without any of the caffeine sugar or colorings. I still use it to this day but I’ve since gone back to drinking coffee and tea. The caffeine withdrawal was actually worse than nicotine and alcohol as well.

I had to do this basically when I found out I have POTS. I already have chronic migraines so I was taking a lot of excedrin. When I got my diagnosis, I was told I can’t have any caffeine ever again. Even in as small of an amount as is in chocolate. It’s definitely a struggle for someone that use to rely on excedrin to survive. Now I just have to take some ibuprofen and just be in pain. This probably also means I wouldn’t be allowed to use these products you use in the video.

I suffer from migraines too, which normal painkillers do nothing for. I found an absolute game charger though in sumatriptan. It's not a painkiller and doesn't work on non migraine headaches at all. You need to take it when the migraine is in headache phase, not the aura. For me once it kicks it just turns the migraine off completely like a light switch (there's pun here that I can now switch the real lights back on lol) Might be worth asking your doctor about sumatriptan, or another triptan as a possible treatment route. I don't know if safe for POTS, obviously not a doctor, so ask yours about it

@TheEliseRodgers
@TheEliseRodgers 3 ай бұрын
@@ceilinh6004I’m not the OP, but I have them comorbidly, and can definitely say that them combination is common enough that my EDS specialty doc is aware of the likelihood of a patient having both! I have seen the increase of patients around the world saying they have both to such a level that I asked about it a couple years ago, and my doc told me that connective tissue is involved in the circulatory system, so if you have connective tissue issues, it makes sense that you are at a higher likelihood of “loose” blood vessels, etc. too!

But also, this made me feel more confident and willing to tackle my own caffeine issue since it's lead to an escalation in issues from my sensory processing disorder, and anxiety disorder, so thank you for being as genuine of a person as you are. Anyway, something else I want to comment on in general is that, I know a LOT of millennials like me who went their whole lives with undiagnosed ADHD, and, coincidentally, we were all massive caffeine addicts (my SO drank way more than 4 cups of coffee per day before getting diagnosed). Just some unrelated, additional food for thought :)

As someone who is chemically resistant to caffiene and drinks it because I enjoy coffee, it is something to keep in mind. I, and I'd imagine everyone who is immune to caffiene and adiction, aren't immune to potential side-affects. If you suspect you may be suffering from sleep issues or hypertension from your coffee intake, a ten-day reset can help. I used to drink 3-6 travel-cups of very strong-brewed dark coffee a day (The metal ones that hold 20+ounces). Even though I'm resistant to the caffiene and the addiction, It's still unsafe for someone with a family history of heart problems to drink that much of a stimulant. Now, it's my treat once a day on workdays.

On the other side : capsaicin Capsaicin is a vanilloid, and as a vanilloid it activates the TRPV1 (transient receptor for potential vanilloid 1) (and for clarification a vanilloid just means it has a specific makeup in its atomic build.) And these TRPV1 sensors are all along your digestion track, close to your central nervous system, since capsaicin is an oil that means it doesn't mix with water without an emulsifier, so drinking water only spreads the capsaicin around What happens is when the capsaicin touches the TRPV1 sensors it polarized them, it triggers them and that tells the body "hey, your on fire" and triggers the uncomfortable feeling.

Can you do a video on what colour the outside of your writing pen/pencil should be when you sit a test. Would blue be best to instil a sense of authority and calming or red for power and confidence? And would different colours be better for different subjects? Like a brighter, more creative colour for maths to help you visualise the problem? I tried to find the answers online but just got ads for colouring pencils 😒. My GCSE's are coming up soon so it would be really useful to know.
