I'm not sure why it's not being said that anything you do... The source is what matters. If you are summoning evil spirits while using sage then yes you are agreeing with Satan. If sage is bad or evil or is sorcerery... Then I guess water used in baptism (which is a holy ritual and blessed ritual) or holy water being used to bless your space or cast out evil is also sorcery? No. It's the source that counts. If this doesn't make sense to anyone I will reference psalm 51:7 - Purge me with hyssop and I shall be clean, wash me and I shall be whiter than SNOW. Hyssop is an herb/plant. Why would the bible mention an herb to purge or cleanse something if it is evil. Everything created by God has uses and power such as water, hyssop, olive oil and yes sage... We are not to worship these things. Because that makes it idolatry. But using sage as a Christian to ward evil demons or spirits away, I do not think it is evil.

I love the smell of incense, just like candles. I found out shortly after buying some that it's used improperly by many individuals in practices of witchcraft ect. I would like to get an answer for the following.. if you could give me your opinion, that would be great . I just started work as a wellness coach for individuals in a harm reduction site here in Canada. My first day, they were all sitting at the table and they were smudging, and they asked if I would like to SMUDGE ( sage) as well. They explained to me that it was to get rid of negative energy. I was reluctant in my spirit, as I have never done it, I did it end up doing it because I did not want to disrespect them and I wanted to connect with them in order to help them in the future. But burning fragrant incense sticks is not bad, it really gives a sense of freshness. In church also they burn pure Loban during the Roman catholic mass service in India. And Fragrant incense Frankincense was gifted to Baby Jesus by the 3 wise kings. It's like love and respect for him. I don't think burning it is a sin. Who doesn't like their room being Fragrant? And praying while the incense is burning and giving positive intentions is also not a sin. This is practiced in every culture all over the world. Smudging is no different. You can spray a room freshner but it won't be natural. It's a fact that when evil spirits are around, you get a really rotten smell suddenly in the middle of the night out of no where. And they don't like good fragrance spaces. Prayer is a must but burning incense is not a sin. It was a precious gift given to the Kings and Queens in ancient times including a birthday gift for Jesus. It's like wearing a perfume to feel good, that's not a sin. We must learn something good from every culture/religion. But don't follow it blindly. Take something good from every religion / culture. Do your own research and don't believe anyone blindly. Sage is safer because it's free of chemicals and you are sure not to inhale the factory made incense sticks which will give out toxic fumes. Sage is created by God. Everything made by him is good.
