Can Etsy be a full time job? How much money do I make and what it takes to make a living selling on Etsy.
You're going to need to learn about product photography, Etsy SEO, copy writing, customer service and how to drive traffic through social media so this is far from easy for most people.

I think this is my most personal video to date and I go into a bit of depth with my sales numbers from the past 4+ years. Some people get shirty about this stuff but I want to show you that you can make a good living on Etsy!

Hi. This is video answered questions I had. Very useful. I'm happy to have discovered your channel. I make wooden rings. I've made 5 or six including one with an emerald with boxwood. Just for myself really but have been considering selling on etsy for a while. My wooden rings are constructed differently from your ones so no competition from me!

Well done Dan! Really interesting watch. Im just after making enough money to keep making new and interesting rings and stuff. Making a profit would be nice but not massively important to me. Great video. Very inspiring. I'm also an etsy seller. It's hard to keep up with demand sometimes but I want to keep the business small with no employees. I would rather make less money and create all the items myself.

Lmaooo mate you’re too funny lol anyway I’m working in a call centre and have been here for over 3 years now... don’t ask why and how I’ve lasted this long lmao last year I was a late bloomer in crafting... didn’t realise I love crafting but anyway it’s led me to where I am today creating digital printable art ..I am about to open up my Etsy shop soon and hope I’ve ticked all the boxes for getting my page found on Etsy and getting those sales rolling lol anyways this was informative, loved it, keep doing what you’re doing! 👍🏽

That's some amazing numbers on Etsy! I tried my hand at opening an Etsy shop but just couldn't seem to get any traction...I made under 1k this year on Etsy. I probably shouldn't have given up but I've pretty much shut my shop down - I have 4 listings in my shop now. Keep killing it Dan!

Mike Pickett - Penmaker & Woodworker fair play it is hard to get found and sell handmade items online. Do you sell your work through any other channels like a website/craft fairs etc?

@@ZebranoWoodCraft I do most of the local markets - they're hit or miss - we just did one this weekend and it was a miss, but I have the last one of the season next weekend and it should be a hit. I am currently working on a shopify website and am going to be doing less markets next year and taking the $$$ that would have been put into entry fees and using it to promote the website and social media.

Yeah I used to sell at craft fairs but they are just so unpredictable. The good ones are quite expensive and it's a lot of time to invest, so I don't do them anymore. It's great fun being face to face with customers but you could easily drive traffic to your site by taking the pitch fees and using the money on adverts! You can also get lots of visitors by creating content for your site :)

I love the creating part but the wind gets sucked from my sails when it is time to list and then ship. Hey. I make tables occasionally and would like to thank you for this insight. Great work by the way. My point of typing at you is that i throw away various wood veneers everyday and honestly it slightly bugs me. Sometimes there exotic, dyed etc i was thinking of putting more time into it myself but would any small 1.5 mm 300ish in length be of use to you?. plenty, many types of woods go in the burner. Its a shame they make for perfect coffee tables etc. 🤘✌️

neoone256 thank you - good question! I’m at the workshop around 30 hours a week but really it’s a 24/7 job as there’s always marketing, admin or emails to do. I guess I work about 40 hours a week all in but most of it doesn’t feel like work!

Stupid health care in the US, I’d need to make an extra $11k. There is money to be made with Amazon affiliate links in the US, does Amazon pay the same in UK? I’ve heard a few KZfaqrs say it brings in more money than KZfaq. You could list your tools and camera gear. Include both UK and US links. I’m really enjoying your channel, the opal ring a few videos back inspired me to make one.

I’m disabled, I live on disability pay. Which isn’t much, insurance is great. Can’t afford to lose it by selling on Etsy. Social security will cut me off.

Dermot Lawless yeah that’s probably a fair average. To be honest it’s kind of a 24/7 job as I’m always emailing, ordering or doing social media ... guess I never know when to switch off!

I visited your etsy shop and noticed you sell at a higher price point. Did you start at that price or work your way up to that? If you started at that price, how did you earn your fist sales? I'm nervous about being able to charge a higher price without the reviews to back it up

Sorry for the late reply! Yes I built up to that price but I'd recommend starting at a medium-high price point. Sales and reviews will come, just do your marketing, publish content and post on social media to show how quality your work is :)

I had may own business clothing alteration had it for 12 years had a break down long story but i like to know my work is right just could not take the pressure working 18 hours a day and sold the business for next to nothing and went into the call center I miss working with my hands and looking at you tube family say i am wasting my time but you have just inspired me to do it thanks yes my surname is bastard i married one officially :)

Haha that's a great name! Good luck to you on your journey, I know how tough it can be and working in a call center can have it's perks (free coffee and cake haha). I've felt the burnout a lot too so I'm trying to make changes to my business to help give me more time to switch off and concentrate on my health/spending time with my family. It's hard running a business and 12 years is a long time! Are you starting back up?
