You're not crazy for thinking people in her life should be sympathetic to her. i felt the same way. But this movie is brilliant in showing what happens to you when you ACTUALLY have mental health problems. People will act like they care all day, but if you ACTUALLY have serious problems, noone wants to be around you or deal with you. It happened to me when my depression got really bad. My friends and family completely ghosted. That's when I learned that if you have mental health problems, keep it to yourself or go to professionals. The people in your life will not care unless they've personally been through it. They just want you to shut up and be normal.

This is, hands down, the absolute funniest Smile reaction Ive seen lmao, I love your type of humour. You're really funny!! I dont know if you do your own editing or like, you got an editor, but that deserves as much praise too lol, I needed that laugh. Oh yeah, we definitely sympathize with her since we see everything going on, but *I THINK* no one else believed her cause it's hard to sympathize with someone you think is 'crazy' so everything they say is automatically considered like 'crazy-talk', and I think part of the 'message' was that it's hard for people to empathize with the mentally ill (though we all know she wasnt), and thus they dont bother listening. I personally really enjoyed this movie, scary, original, great characters. Really looking forward to your next reaction!

You were onto something about dealing with trauma, you just didn't catch the other part of it. If not helping her mom was the only trauma she had, it would've worked. She says to her dead mom that she did nothing because she was scared of her. Meaning her doing nothing was just the final nail on the coffin. That's why the thing crawls inside her mouth. It's representative of generational trauma.

It would've been an awesome movie if it wasn't for the cat scene. It was literally only there for shock value, and had no basis on the plot whatsoever. What they SHOULD'VE done was say something like she didn't kill the cat, the trauma monster just made her think it did. If you want, look at it as trauma paralyzing you into obsessing over how something horrible MIGHT happen.

That ending is so terrifying I say the smile movie is 5 out of 10. Next movie you must react is the Northman or Elvis.

The good news is they’re already a year into filming the sequel which picks up straight from here obviously with Joel now infected. I read that the people behind the movie were so confident it’d be very successful that they got the green light to start filming #2 before this was even released and they had a production meeting at the end of filming telling everyone they could start #2 immidiately but only want to do it if the same cast, crew and professionals were involved, which included Sosie Bacon (Rose) so we know clearly she’s going to be terrorizing Joel which makes sense since he clearly never got over her ending things. The interview said they had a vote & if unanimous they start #2 and everyone believed so much in the film that everyone voted to do #2. The director said he doesn’t care if #2 makes a dime as long as everyone busts their asses to surpass expectations. He said doing such a unique film that was so successful & a film that don’t be forgotten can make your career , where deciding to do a sequel is dangerous becasue if it’s ANY less entertaining it will be seen as a cash grab and damage your career so he and everyone else discussed that and are going to push to surprise viewers and reward them for comming back. He mentioned James Wann is a friend of his and he LOVED the conjuring Universe , particularly the Annabelle doll in conjuring 1. He didn’t play a role in Annabelle (1) the story and movie he enjoyed but was upset that a concept of the doll which is based on a real case of the warrens as a raggedy Anne doll & a favorite detail of the conjuring movies left fans disappointed it didn’t hold a candle to Conjuring 1 or 2. He said James took a huge gamble asking to do the 2nd Annabelle movie in an attempt to redeem that branch of the universe but he wanted to direct write and produce it as well as choosing his own proof and the actors. James put more into Annabel :Creation than any project he’s done creating a masterpiece that ended up getting a 100% fresh rating from rotten tomatoes, the only horror movie to ever have a perfect score & in many’s minds it’s the scariest and most creative of any of the conjuring universe , even 1 and 2. He had the idea for the groundbreaking marketing idea of hiring actors sending them to televised sporting events in a seat that would be seen on tv a bunch and hve them smile nonstop the entire event and not move or talk to anyone . Before any announcement of this films concept they did the experimental marketing and I was one that got to see it live on tv when a baseball game had a rain delay for a microburst and the announcers were taking about the game when they switched to a camera feed in the stadium showing The fans almost entirely moved inside until you see 1 person behind home base front row no umbrella, the camera zooms in on her probably thinking highlight real but noticed a disturbing and unsettling smiling woman getting poured on. It flashes back to the announcers it gave me the same sick feeling I got when I saw the marketing ad for Blair Witch project which they marketed as ACTUAL found footage after 3 filmmakers disappeared. It wasn’t made known it was jsut marketing. For over a month after release when the main actress appeared in face letterman. I felt pretty cheated but it was so wild to watch the first found footage paranormal film . I sat there thinking these are 3 missing people were watching the last moments of their life and it make me feel physically sick when that final shot as the one with camera yells and drops the canera and we see that shot of the friend standing in the dark basement corner facing the corner head sunk down not tied up not fighting for their life? They like paranormal activity that also marketed as true found footage film, both these films had no production company credited opening scene , no credits at the start or end the Blair witch , it also is actually based on a real situation of children that vanished and most of the interviews when they go door to door to getting , filmed and then to a motel out of state . The silent black screen with VHS tracking and imposed said 3 filmmakers (names, ages, date, last day seen and no credits at all. Their marketing and the first found footage paranormal , the hype was global. Likewise the marketing for” Smile” was all over the news panicking people until a news agency discovered a movie still filming called smile and shortly after confirmed it. Was marketing only , all if them. Genius. He also had an idea based off reactions to Sinister unsettling looping distorted beats. He decided to not do a soundtrack. It play the most disturbing sounds always when the demon is manipulating
