And no... that talking bridge while Geoff was texting was nowhere near the original. That was just him making fun of a song that celebrated unhealthy relationship dynamics. ... And that's what saved the song for me.

Geoff's facial expressions while he's texting crack me up so much. XD I kind of interpret it as him knowing exactly how stupid the things he's writing are, but he really needs to placate his ex just so he can get back into the house once to collect his possessions. Good thing he ended up finding Kathy instead!

Both were grey-ish, but after their hands met on the softener bottle, both had white shining bright hampers next to them. But there are more references to other videos, especially with all the shirts. I can't tell exactly which shirt appeared where, but I had the feeling, I knew them (BTW: Huldra Draco did a video of showing 'everything easter egg' she could find out ❤). I want to say that one of the reasons I started watching your reactions is because they're real. It's not a fake over the top reaction, your insight into the music does make for a better understanding of the music, and you aren't afraid to say when you don't like something. Yes, there was an Easter egg at the end someone caught. It was the changing of the laundry basket's color from blue to white.

I liked the way Geoff used the parody filter when he did this, He had a lot of the elements, wrecked truck, the dog is gone. and the QC check on the bedsheets, the only thing he left out was his mama in prison... pretty much an homage to Steve Goodman and his song "You Don't Even Call Me By My Name". IMO I think that was a brilliant bit of creativity on Geoff's part.

Don't worry, it took 3 watches to see the baskets change from blue to white, to show he has found happiness. Also... Geoff folds about as good as I do, haha!!! You are soooo right about the "white" diphthong. I remember, I had never heard of the word "diphthong" until my very first voice class, and it was an eye-opening moment. "What do you mean "I" is two vowels? It's one! It's the letter I." But then I realized my teacher was right. It's "ah-ee." A real mind-blown moment for me. I'm so glad you pointed it out.

It's another Christmas miracle! 😂 i have similar feelings for the original All I Want for Christmas is You .. (i will walk out of the store, change the station, etc.) but i like Geoff's version. Love what he did here, spoofing all the country music tropes of losing your truck, your dog, girl cheating with your best friend, crying in your beer type songs. He even did an Elvis lip curl!

Oh my goodness, Mortius, I like you even more now! Clear back to the 50's and 60's I couldn't understand the fascination with Elvis, nor the Beatles either. Thank you for making me feel less of a weirdo, even though I really am one. I have a curiosity question for my teacher. At 7:48 you mentioned 'a different shape'. I've noticed when Eli sings, he often curls his tongue up, into a "V". Then his lips (and beard, lol) also form a "V". Is this what gives his voice such a distinct, unique sound and timbre? It seems higher pitched in lower notes somehow. (Does that make any sense?) I noticed 60 years ago many good singers had very broad, flat tongues so Eli's really piques my interest. His voice and Geoff's I think could be picked out anywhere. Thanks in advance.

I completely understand about not liking a song. My most hated is "All I Want For Christmas Is You" like you I'm not a fan of the original artist but I do like The Bass Gang's version.

In many southern dialects “I” sounds like “ah.” It was something I had to work on when I moved out of my small town. All of the “I” sounds in his version sound like “ah.”

The first time I heard this song wasn't Elvis' version. It was a little girl writing to Santa in the Rankin Bass special The Year Without a Santa Claus, which is more famous for the miser brothers, Cold Miser and Heat Miser. You might not dislike that version.

Leaving out the soprano descant improved the song for me infinitely. I never was a fan of the original. Now I have a version I can actually listen to.

This was fun! And I love that you look for things to like in videos and songs, instead of looking for things to dislike. I'm the same, especially with movies and TV shows. I have been searching for a reactor who dislikes something. It is a rare rare thing. Thank you Mortius bor being up front about it, explaining it and most of all ACTUALLY disliking something. Not every song is the next Pachelbel's Canon.

There were a lot of songs I blew by (especially when the boy bands emerged). Just wasn't my thing. But, oh lord, Geoff and Voiceplay changed my mind on several songs. Every time they do a song I'm not familiar with I either learn something or find more music I appreciate. As I do with your reactions!

Actuallu I think perhaps you haven't looked enough into Elvis, he did so much for the coloured community, but I'll try not to hold it against you. I don't know about crazy but you did go on a bit about white.

Elvis was an amazing person. Not sure what it is with this generation but he was one of the best people to live and was the one person who brought Martin Luther king jr into the love of all Americans. Any negative story on him is BS race joke that has been proven false for well over 50 years now. If you believe those stories then that’s on you for not researching. Singing wise, forgetting hillbilly rock, he was/is the greatest singer of all time. Yes, that’s my opinion as well as Stevie wonder, BB king, Whitney houston( who spent a lot of time with Elvis), Michael Jackson, and just about every other great artist or music producer. If you don’t like his vocals, fine, just remember he sang in an era when you sang into a mic and that was your record but if it’s due to him as a person then you better look in the mirror. He did more for people than you will ever know.

My great grandfather was 34 and great grandmother 15 when they married. My grandparents married when he was 21 and she 13. Believe it or not this whole 18 year old marriage idea is a very recent phenomenon. I prefer today’s idea of marriage, though monogamy needs to return, something Elvis didn’t do a good job of. It’s the era and society. Some societies arranged marriages is still the norm. 30 years from now a new generation is going to look back at 2023 and see us as primitive idiots. Don’t care if you like or hate him but one thing I think we can agree on is that being judgemental of one’s life is wrong.

I tried, but I couldn’t make myself listen to all of Elvis’ original version. It’s just, um, awful. Elvis’ version made me wish for the Porky Pig spoof version. Geoff fixed this one for me with his texting/narration/bridge. Without the comedy of a not-particularly-bright man with questionable laundry-folding skills trying to return to an exceptionally bad relationship, it’s just a repetitive, sad, country song that mentions Christmas. At least our man found the right woman in the end.
