1:53 It seems the new table doesn't have any drawers and the old one has. The old one won't break if you put heavy machine on it, the new one can hold a woman (Okay). It was a mistake to burn the good old table.

You know it's going to be a good day when Lauri starts out with "Here is a shitload of steel tubes". And that Flexispot ad... pure creative genius, and freaking hilarious. It was especially satisfying to watch the round tubing accordion into a stack of donuts, the consistency/symmetry of the folds really surprised me.

I know the advertisement was for the Flexispot desk, but that was also an impressive showing of the strength of the old desk. Wouldn't break under the weight of a small tractor, and mostly wouldn't even burn !

As someone else said, the coating on the I-beam flaking was neat, but I didn't expect it to fail like that... And I agree, the way the pipe folded in on itself so cleanly was oddly satisfying.

For Part 2, I'd love to see a Go-Pro shot from inside the pipe being crushed. Lay the camera on the base and point it up towards the ram to watch the pipe crushing down on it. Obviously it would be in the danger zone, but with a large enough pipe and all the controls you have, I think you could do it without too much risk of destroying the camera in the process.

Idk how well it would do for content, but I wonder how far you could stretch a steel pipe using a crusher head that is beveled to a point or near point (so, basically a cone). Would a tube split and peel like a banana? Or would it just get wider and wider? Also, you might be able to make some good firewood if you used a cone attachment on some firewood lol

It has been pretty cool to see you guys progress from just a small press with basic cameras to this large press with better cameras, a robot for different views, and better audio. The slow motion footage where you can see the metal flake off was really cool as well. Keep up the good work!

You should seriously consider opening an art gallery to exhibit all those metal pieces that the press turns into literal pieces of art. You might even sell them and get good money, since each of them is unique, and when you run out of pieces to sell... well, it's nothing that a relaxing shopping trip to the scrapyard won't fix. 😄

Hi Laurie and Hanna. The only way that I can get a band-saw to cut straight is to make sure the adjustable blade-guide is as close to the work as possible and to cut very slow.

That result is a tribute to modern metallurgy and manufacturing - the way the tubes concertinaed shows how even the alloy is and how accurately they were made. I suspect an old pipe would have just split somewhere.

The effect on the surface of the pipes just before the pipe gives up is really cool. I was wondering how it would look if the pipe was polished. Also would be interesting to see a chrome plated pipe.

4:50 That's actually a "wide flange" beam; its perimeter is square. An "I-beam" has much narrower flanges, and looks like the letter "I". What you made it into looks great. Definitely art!
