We've done many challenges with specific types of Pokemon... but what about a run with fully random encounters!? What if we got access to the full spectrum of possible encounters in Pokemon Emerald... could our randomized team beat the game's hardest challenge - a hardcore nuzlocke?

We've done some hard Pokemon challenges in the past, but usually they were a solo Pokemon challenge run. What if we still did a really difficult challenge... but with a full team using hardcore nuzlocke rules, and with only random Pokemon? Today we find out: can I beat a Pokemon Emerald Hardcore Nuzlocke with only Random Pokemon? No items and no overleveling!

Monotype Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
(1) If a Pokémon faints, it must be permanently boxed or released.
(2) Only the first type-specific Pokémon encountered in each Route/Area can be caught.
(3) No Legendaries/Mythicals, duplicates, or same-evolution-line Pokémon can be caught or used. If a duplicate is encountered, the next unique type-specific Pokémon encounter can be caught.
(4) Additional Pokémon may be caught for the purpose of HM use, but these may not be used in battle at any time during the run.
(5) No Items can be used in battle (Held Items are allowed).
(6) Party Pokémon levels are limited to the highest level Pokémon of the next Gym Leader or Elite 4 Member. So long as your Pokémon are at or below the level cap when the Gym Leader/Elite 4 Member battle starts, they can level up mid-battle.
(7) "Set" Battle Mode must be used at all times.
(8) No connecting with other games for the purposes of importing Pokémon, Items, etc.

Hey I know you probably won't even come back to this comment or reply, I love watching your videos for background noise while I play other games. But can I suggest Pokémon Radical Red, you could ether do a monotype nuzlock or a randomized nuzlock, radical red has the setting already built in and the reason why I think it would be interesting and entertaining is because it has Pokémon from gen 1 up to sword and shield, not sure if it got updated yet or not, the game is in fire red type graphics and has the same map but its own story and the gym leaders are seriously buffed

You can set all the randomized Pokémon to “similar strength,” so that it’ll still be randomized but the difficulty escalates more steadily. You can also force fully evolved Pokémon at a certain level (like 40 or 50) so when you reach that point in the game you’re only facing fully evolved mon’s. Loved this video as always Silph!

Great run but a note for future Randomizer HC Nuzlocke runs. There's an option in the randomizer where you can force opposing trainers to have fully evolved Pokémon (as low as 30 and as high as 65) and an option to not have Legendaries and Mythicals as encounters. Take note of this if you plan on another Randomizer HC Nuzlocke run!

What a great start to the day, I always love to see new Silph content. If Silph somehow sees this, I think it'd be great to not limit yourself to a type, but to a concept. Like, only using quadruped (stands on 4 legs) Pokemon, or Pokemon that only learn a certain move like Bite.

I'm not sure if anyone else will share my opinion but personally I enjoy randomized Pokemon encounters and randomized trainer Pokemon. I'm not really as big a fan of things like randomizing moves or natures of Pokemon. Just thought I'd share some feedback, but of course, you should keep making the videos you like to make

For future runs, if you have to restart you should rerandomize it. You should set a level cap of some kind for having fully evolved pokemon. So any trainers that have pokemon at like lets say level 35 are fully evolved by default

Loved the video and love randomziers and im very glad you mentioned deciding to force evolve for atleast the elite 4 for future ones, having first stage mons in the champion or steven battle makes it quite anticlimatic, for my own runs i usually force evolve from level 40 onwards which so far has been great. Pairing a randomizer with a collab to customize gym leader and e4 teams like antlerboy and flygon have recently done also seems like a fantastic idea to add depth to the otherwise level up movesets, but im sure you're already working on that.

These are always fun runs. You can never expect what happens next. At one moment, you are destroying Wallace who has a team of first stages, and on another, you're run almost comes to a heartbreaking end against Tate and Liza. Definitely look forward to another run where every Pokemon is at around a similar level in power as you advance.

29:20 Not quite. Submarines have an escape trunk that allows people to exit and enter while submerged. You swim into the trunk from the outside, the hatch is closed, and then water it pumped out

future sight is treated as a typeless move in terms of what it hits in gen 3 which is how it hits crawdaunt! it didnt work as a psychic move until... i think gen 5? i know its still typeless in gen 4 because i helped a friend with a platinum randomizer where we kept running into mewtwos too and had to work around future sights pretty often

One thing you need to understand is that Future Sight does not calculate type when doing damage. So, even though they're dark type, they still took essentially typeless damage.

My favorite part is that his league team looks almost like an actual possible Hoenn team. Sceptile, Torkoal, Crawdaunt, and Raichu are all available in Hoenn, just trade over the Porygon2 and Steelix and you’ve got yourself a really great team

so idk if you know this, but with the Pokémon randomizer you can make it 100% random and what I mean by that so the settings that you have it set to make to that every Pokémon that would normally be there just gets replaced by another, but it’ll always be the same replacement so for example your rivals and flaneries slugma both get replaced by vaporeon, and that’s why your dad has two glalies because slaking gets replaced by glalie, huge fan btw bro!!!

2 tips: 1- There is an improved version of the universal randomizer out there, the ZX one. I recommend it 2- You can make any pokémon above a certain level to be fully evolve, not only the ones in the league. Maybe it's more enjoyable that way

Gen 3 games actually factor in statistical favouritism for gym leaders and specific battles, it's to make the game significantly harder for those iconic fights. For example you have a reduced rate of critical hits and they have an increased rate, also you'll often get low damage attacks because it is skewing the odds against you. I don't know which other generations did this but I know it was gen 3

I know too well how painful it is to fight Lugia in a randomizer. I did a regular nuzlocke in Leaf Green and Blue's ace randomized into one. That bastard almost team wiped me and kept spamming Recover whenever I made any progress. It was hell.

I like randomizers but I feel like at level 40 all pokemon should be fully evolved. Still random, just makes key battles more intense.
