‘Can I Call My Mom?’: Actor Lil Meech Cuffed at Airport for Gun in Luggage

Жыл бұрынNewly released bodycam footage shows actor and rapper Lil Meech being arrested at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in December after airport security found a gun in his luggage. Demetrius Flenory Jr. then asked officers, “Can I call my mom?” The actor tried to explain that the firearm was in his bag due to a mix-up with his personal security guard, but the police still took him into custody. The Broward County State Attorney’s Office later declined to charge Flenory after evidence corroborated his story.

Do you think he’s being helpful by saying ‘don’t say another word’, so that he does not incriminate himself ? OR Saying that because that is the bottom line(him not having a concealed weapons permit) therefore he is going to jail, and doesn’t need to hear any more ? I thought the latter but your comment is interesting, perhaps I was wrong ? However I still don’t think so.

The second officer already knew what was up. Have him the best advice. “Sit tight, don’t say a word.” People may see this as being rude or dismissive but he is legitimately giving him the best legal advice he can give. He understands his situation and realizes this is all a big misunderstanding. Glad to see this was resolved peacefully and without incident.

It’s crazy to me that when a celebrity is involved, the body cam has no problem getting to the media and out to the public. But when it’s a civilian getting their rights violated the body cam is muted half the time, a massive paywall to be paid before even retrieving the footage and oh yeah it might take a few years till we even get it 🤦♂️

Free legal advice, whenever you are approached by law enforcement follow instructions and remain silent once you have been detained. Kudos to TSA officer who told him NOT to say a word. They usually don’t drop those jewels.

This actually happened in December and is just now being put out on social media sites. The case was dismissed because it was actually a mix up of his and his security luggage. Security had a permit and proper paperwork for the firearm.. Happy that he's able to go on living life

This actually happens a lot and the TSA calls in local police to determine if this was an accident or an attempt to carry the firearm onto the plane. Many times, the firearm is return and the person is given a fine, unless if they are repeat offenders.

It’s going to be ok. Mistakes happen he is being respectful communication is clear. The judge can throw it out or give him a minor infraction and it won’t ruin his life. But as a reminder always double check your bags you never know what or who can put something in your bags.

The Agent telling him sit tight don't say a word probably knows exactly who he is. Basically don't open up any more avenues than you already have. All things considered, he handled himself well. You can tell just by the look in his eyes that he's not used to being in a situation like that & the agents seem seasoned and probably know this as well. They have a job to do and seemed to do it without prejudice.

I cannot imagine him thinking he's gonna get guns through airport security. If his ID is not in the bag, might not be his bag. It's possible someone set him up & put the guns & magazines in his bag OR he snatched someone else's bag, his security etc. Regarding how he was talkin', I figure it caught him by surprise so he reacted, concerned.
