Been cutting my own hair for years now, just to save money and it's not bad at all. The very first time I did it, I thought, what's the worst that could happen. What's the best that could happen. And that would be I could get it too short, but it would grown back or I could get it just right. Well, I got it just right and I can give it a trim whenever I feel the need. So Good on me and You did a great job too! xo

My formerly adorable pixie haircut has been growing out since January and I can't go get it cut by my stylist because my husband had lung surgery and we are terrified about him getting Covid so are super-sheltering at home. My hair is just in my face all the time and I have to pin it back with barrettes like a 3-year-old. I've been toying with the idea of just buzzing my whole head but you have given me the confidence to at least TRY cutting it properly first. I cut mine several times. I buzzed it all with a seven. Left the bangs. And used thinning scissors on my bangs. I buzzed the rest of my hair, the top also, all that one length. I love it! I spoke the top. I am gonna keep doing it myself, a time saver and a money saver!

I do wish I’d seen this yesterday. Your attempt was more successful than mine. I attempted mine and now have some long bits some bald bits and some straggly bits. Absolutely horrific. Oh please let lockdown be over so I can see my hairdresser.

I went nuts and did whack off a hunk right in the front by mistake but it's workin' for now! It feels great and I can spike mine once again! It'll grow back and I wear a hat when I go out!

My husband and were watching together because I am going to cut my own hair. My hair looks like yours did before you cut it and I have the same motto. It'll grow back because the only difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is 3 weeks. You are a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing

It looks great! I had cancer 11 years ago and realized I would have to shear my hair short anyway, so I bought clippers and learned how to use them for after my hair regrew. During the pandemic, I did an Amazon review that described some of my techniques. I discovered that there are many high-quality cutting guides that were not there before! It is well worth learning to do this. The clipper and guides pay for themselves very quickly! You can find guides that go up to 2.5" or 3.0". I advise everyone to use your longest guide first....on the crown. As you progress down from the crown, make the guides progressively shorter as you cut the sides and shorter yet at the nape of the neck. Don't worry about tapering. That can be accomplished by rocking the tip of the clipper guide away from the scalp as you move the clipper upwards. Using that technique, you can blend lengths between each guide.

Bravo! And thank you. I was looking for a do-it-myself video because I can't stand the length of my normally short, short hair. All the ones I saw before this made me shake my head unh-un. The result was not where I wanted to go and the hair usually was too young -- as in I ain't never gonna look like that. You've given me courage.

bonus baby. i'm 75 and my 7 yo granddaughter used my hair shears to cut my hair 5 days ago. we discussed how to use the shears and off she went. i did make a video. she had complete confidence and truly except for the two clear to my scalp holes i have at my neckline she did a pretty good job. bwahahahahah

Thanks for the great video. I cut 20 inches off my hair with scissors a month ago. It look fine, but I wanted it a bit shorter in back. So I want to try with clippers now. Your hair looks great. I've cut my own hair 5 times since the virus closed the hair salons. It's short like yours. It's been slightly different each time but not too bad and if it goes wrong, it grows quite quickly. I used a scissors, never thought of using clippers, too afraid to try.

Thank you for your video. i have been cutting my own pixie style by hand for well over 20 years. I invested in a clipper a few years ago but have always been too chicken to use them even after watching videos. Mainly because I don't have an electric outlet in the bathroom where I have the double mirror set-up, and I have hated the thought of vacuuming the floor of the mess. I love your idea of cutting into the basin with a towel or plastic sheet inside for easier clean up. My main problem has always been getting the nape to be short and even when cutting with scissors. Thanks to your video I am going to take clippers in hand, on a nice long extension cord, and chop away later today. By the way, another video suggested lining out the different lengths you want to use in the back with blue painter's tape because it will h old the hair out of the way and be removable in a pain free [won't pull out your hair] removal.

OK CRYSTAL (or whatever your name is, doesn't matter) I admire your courage, free spirit & tenacity along with the mantra "What the hell, it'll grow out" I'm roughly same age as you, been wearing a very short cut forever, & paying $40. (Canada) every 5 weeks for cuts I sort of like, but when all's said & done think I could do as good a job myself, You gave me a good laugh & inspiration to go out & find those clippers. Your hair must have grown back in the meantime now that your hairdresser most likely has opened up her shop. I had shoulder-length hair which I cut into a pixie around the time when you cut yours.. I guess most women globally had the same need out of frustration. We proved to ourselves that we couldn't ignore looking in the mirror without looking good while being 'locked up".

Bravo! It looks just great, and I bet it feels even better! I cut mine about three weeks ago with the clippers. In the process, I cut all the colour off! Didn't realize how white it is, holy cow! I've gotten mixed reviews but everyone is impressed with my bravery..lol. I enjoyed watching, thanks for sharing. One little piece of advice. If you get a pair of thinning shears, you can soften up any edges, and it helps if you want to spike it.

I cut my own hair yesterday after watching some tutorials on KZfaq. It's shaved on one side and the rest is up to my ears. I said the same thing u did, it's hair, it'll grow back. Now I'm watching videos to cut my partners hair, she wants a pixie. U did an amazing job.

Isn't it funny, we cut our hair and it just feels good whether or not its great. This coming from someone who had terrible cuts and wouldn't trust just anyone with hair. So, I carefully cut a bunch off and am content. Nice job.
