I had a helicopter with me yesterday on 4 of his rental properties, which I don’t mind helicopters, because when I find issues, they are right there and see what I’m doing because I’m explaining it to them. One thing I’ve found out when I get a helicopter around me is I’ll tell them that I watch HVAC KZfaq videos and the AC Techs refer to ppl hanging around or following us around HELICOPTERS, they back off 😅 the guy backed off yesterday from me yesterday and started doing other things at his properties, it was hilarious 😅

That was hard to watch. You may prevent that from happening by not asking the customer so many questions on what they think may be wrong with their unit. Explain that you will check and diagnose the system. That you need 15 to 45 minutes of time to proper do this, is that ok. Then go test(by opening up system and using gauges) and look at the system fully and check it yourself. When someone follows you around asking questions every 20 seconds. To properly professional diagnosis the system you need your mind, not to explain every one of your actions and thoughts. Hope that helps. Also any time there is so much ice, better to turn off and come back.

Talk bad about a homeowner that is a helicopter. One bad previous experience or extortion or hack job and they are watching and/or learning to diy. If someone messed up your car and u took it to someone else, guarantee you watching them too. So many hvac videos show the youtuber going behind a hack job, but can't seem to get why a homeowner is hawking over their equipment and trying to understand what's going on. It's a bad approach, but an hvac issue is as shocking as being in a car wreck. They just high stressed and uncertain. It goes with the territory of what u do contractors. I build studios.
