Hey Pete. I'm a platinum level technician at a large body shop in my city. We went down to four ten hour shifts last year and increased productivity by 30%. No joke. We set records last year and are on track to do the same this year. The 4 day work week can be successful but is not easy to achieve. Less work days means less room for errors.

We must ensure a basic minimum for life. This should include food and housing primarily, as having those taken care of make up a major obstacle for the poorest among us, and taking that obstacle away is a net good. Adding to that, our productivity floor has increased so much that a single worker today can do more than 2 employees from 30 years ago. This should be taken as evidence that we can work fewer hours and keep our output nearly the same. What you said early on is pretty accurate: Of the 40 hours you're scheduled to put in, not every one is productive. All the excess could easily be trimmed without any loss in quality of life.

As someone who works in an industry that offers even time rosters as well as a 4 day week I can say even time is personally a far better situation to push for as it give mini holidays every week off rather than an extended weekend It also means that all weekends would be like working weeks for being able to do things I.e banks, shopping etc which the 5 day week makes impossible In terms of the material shouldn’t be the incentive i get the idea that you are trying to show but i dont believe it works across the board For example maintenance workers, plumbers, garbage disposal workers These are crucial jobs that are required even when the technology advances up until we have fully functional ai robots. These jobs people can be passionate about to an extent but if you don’t get anything for doing the crappy jobs there wont be very many people willing to do them

Amazon does 4 day 40hr work week. My job is by commission so it's beneficial for me to work as efficiently as possible while still doing a quality job.

4 day work weeks would typically be proposing 4x 10 hour working days instead of 5x 8 hour working days (for those who would prefer 3 day week-ends). The expectation would still be for a 40 hour work week from non salary employees. There are always exceptions.

Yeah, but if commute takes a lot, like 1-2 h it would be better, it would be 2 hours of your life saved every week. At the same time, 10 + 2 commute + 3-4 for esentials like eating, igiene... + 8 h sleep, you literally have 0 h free time in the days you are at work, but you trade that for 3 free days a week instead of 2

I had a 4 day work week which was amazing, I would work 2 on, 2 off, 2 on, 1 off & repeat. It was like having a 2 day work week and a mini weekend in the middle to get random pop up stuff done. It also allowed me to work more on my side project which ended up being a successful business. I highly recommend a 4 day week. Less start and stop & clean up time for big projects jobs too. Fire fighters often have a 2 day work week, 48 hrs straight (constant on call) then 5 days off for family. I would personally do a 3 day work week if it was possible to do 12-15hr shifts.

"Purple plays for second"...do remember that you have a lot of experience and skill playing this game and know just about everything about it. I'd bet you 80% or more of all players have no idea that placing second or third is any better than placing last. I played this game for a year and "placing 2nd" or "placing 3rd" never came across my mind. I either won the game or I didn't. I had no clue that 2nd would net me points, or even more points than 3rd would. I'm not saying that purple wasn't playing for 2nd here, but until I started watching you, this concept of getting a certain placement was completely foreign to me. Another random thing about trying to put yourself in a beginners shoes...when I made an alliance with someone, I'd expect them to never hit any of my territories without asking and if they broke, it was definitely a retaliation, sue, or break alliance. Just realize that your average person may not even know this and a lot of the other things you assume as to why they're doing what they're doing is from a very advanced player / grandmaster perspective. 😉

@@TheKillPeteStrategy Of course. Just giving you a friendly reminder of how newer players think since it's been a very long time since you've been a new player yourself. I was wondering if you realized that (I'd bet you) the overwhelming majority of players have no idea that coming in 2nd is anything better than any other placement. I could be completely wrong, but nothing in the general gameplay informs users of this. Regarding the alliance portion of me remembering my "new player brain" and mentioning it, that's something I've heard you talk about in some of your videos so I do see that you definitely either remember that concept or have been playing long enough to speak with other new players to understand that alliances to your typical new player means an actual alliance (even breaking a 1 is seen as a betrayal...at least it was to me). Before I started watching you daily starting maybe a year or two ago, an alliance meant something to me strongly and it being "a way to communicate" for instance was not anything I had ever considered either. I'm digging hard here to remember what my new player brain thought if anything helps at all.
