Hey!
If you didn't know already, I'm a true sucker for all things Skyblock-related.
But I noticed the other day that a Minecraft java modpack called "Vanilla Sky: Everything from Nothing" had been updated to 1.20!
This caught my attention as I haven't actually experienced many of the new 1.20 features in Survival yet(apart from in snapshots etc...)
So this is me just testing my general Minecraft knowledge & seeing if I can truly obtain "Everything from Nothing" whilst playing it in Hardcore difficulty!

Originally I wanted to do a bamboo start, but you need a crafting table in order to craft blocks, which can then be turned into bamboo planks. So I basically scrapped that idea…

fun fact! about breaking the leaves that are too high by jumping-- pretty sure this can happen with any block as long as you can normally break it with whatever tool you have (ie an iron pic with diamond ore or a plank with your fist) and this has been at least a java thing for quite a long time

Love the choice to start with cherrywood. Every time you climb up the ladder to your island it's so pretty. Some of your videos I rewatch a ton while I knit, this is definitely gonna be one of them.

You may think spending 40 mins to descend using trapdoors is a long time, but trust me, your method is actually faster then a lot of other people I've seen. It usually takes me an hour or two, and I constantly have to keep going back for supplies.

For some info, Java had never needed a shovel to make boat. It was always a bedrock thing Edit: husbandry and adventure tab advancements are also Java vanilla along with minecraft set and neither set. There are 4 advancement tabs on vanilla. They're either altered here by adding and/or removing some advancements and the feather icon tab is also custom.

In java you can jump to break any blocks not just leaves but it doesn't work in bedrock. Loving the series it's so you!!

could be useful to make a fishing rod once you get more string, while it cant be used for fishing yet it can be used to grab mob drops or other items if you cant reach them although if youre just gonna make the no water mob farm you used in the superflat world you wouldnt really need it so 🤷

Deserves more subscribers! I am able to watch your videos and I have a short attention span. I love the cherry tree rather than the normal oak for these challenges. 🩷 another idea: starting on a Nether themed island, you’re in the over world though so you can use water etc

Hey dan! recently revisited your chicken blockd map but this time as COOP and the islands won’t spawn/lucky blocks don’t work. Made a creative world to check the pack and it seems to work fine on that world. Do you have any ideas/is it a known thing ? Cheers

I would personally say that the map is just far too outdated now, commands have changed quite a lot since we created that map. Sadly I don’t actually work with that map publisher anymore(Netherpixel) so it’s up to them to sort/fix things now I’m afraid. But as you also suggested, it could indeed just be realms being odd? Maybe try bumping up the simulation distance

Couldn't you have used a trapdoor instead of a full block to go one lower? This way you should be able to go down easier.
