Very interesting race concept, with the gondola going down. This allows the runner to concentrate on the uphill. What many people don't realize is that the downhills are actually the worst part of a trailrace for your muscles.

Top effort, bravo. But insane biomechanics that I would suggest doesn't favour long distance runners, plus fuelling is no joke (as seen). This mountain slope average is what? Compared to a TDF climber, and those climbs are never 'all day'. To be in the elite leaderboard is amazing - although from the video there's not many ppl still grinding at the end so... a very select & exclusive 'club'?

I've done 3 bike Everestings over the years, the fastest one in 18.5 hours. However, running Everesting AND within 12 hours(!), even with taking a lift on the way down, is a completely different level of a nutcase!
@taylorlayton4508
@taylorlayton4508 Ай бұрын
Everest in 12 hours is WILD, even with the rest down. I did a 24 hour race up and down a mountain - not quite as steep so more horizontal distance, and you have to run down. It's also in the middle of winter, so conditions. But only a few people get the full everest every year, including Jared Campbell of Barkley Marathon fame. I got 10 laps for 62 miles with 26k up and down and finished 4th - only two full everesters that year. Haven't finished the vid yet - excited to see how far you get.

I think this is event is more about enduring the length of Mount Everest rather than the height. The challenge or really danger of climbing Mount Everest is not just the weather but the elevation with low oxygen near the top. Not something I want to run up to. That being said I wish there’s a hill like that where I lived to train for my trail runs and so inspire me to train for my 30km run in September🫡
@goranwinblad
@goranwinblad Ай бұрын
Well this has nothing to do with climbing Mount Everest. When climbing Everest they don’t even start at sea level so they climb way less than 8849 height meters. And yeah as you say the main obstacle there is the weather and lack of oxygen. This is more of a fun uphill challenge that uses the height of Everest as a challange 😊 good luck with your training for the 30km run!

I was quite puzzled that the entire height of the Everest should have been ran/climbed within just 12 hours, knowing that decent cyclists take around as much, (or even longer) but it is clear now. This is not "proper" Everesting. For proper Everesting one should also run/cycle down the same road/path on their own, no car or cable cars allowed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everesting
