The friendship with Scythia is just from the fact Tomyris has a crush on Ursa Ryan. That's why he gets same turn friendships with her guaranteed. It's happened in all of his videos since the Caesar patch.

I actually did this out of necessity once. My opponent (Korea, I assume?) had launched their Exoplanet Expedition and I realised too late that I couldn't win on Culture in time. So I started churning out religious rock band after religious rock band using Hallyu, and got the win ONE TURN before Korea were due to land.

This reminds me of Civ 5, when the only times the AI wants to be friends is when: 1. They're about to forward settle you 2. They're about to flood you with missionaries.

Doesn't religious rock spread your founded religion rather than your majority religion? If so you can just keep playing and get your religion back later. (You may have to invade someone else to be able to get a majority back in your empire.)

I am genuinely surprised at the "first impressions" discourse at 9:10. I can swear I have seen the difference in relationships, to the point where I purposefully avoided meeting civs with a warrior. In my head it made sense for the game to act that way, because of course if you approached someone with a big stick, they wouldn't like you too much. But damn. Good to know that it was just a bias.

Ok, I have a strat but it requires a LITTLE save scumming. You need to go back maybe 4 turns and throw Magnus into Harar so that your chops are worth more. Immediately after your chops, swap in Moksha. Also, you'll have to test this, but maybe doing an inquisition with one of those apostles from the temple will allow you to not have to buy another one in Harar. You won't have any use for the evangelized upgrade anyway since you won't have any cities with your religion. You also have a 3 tile choke point between mountains on the west side of Harar, so you can put some military units there to prevent the missionaries from moving up. Also I don't know how long your friendship with Poundmaker is going to last, but if it's not too long, you can declare war and condemn his religious units to get your religion back to majority.

Please go to war with the Cree and teach them a lesson for trying to eradicate your faith! :D

Yup, the Cree and Spain, every bloody time. The best strats that I've found to work are both pre-emptive, knowing whats going to happen. 1st is mad rush Mahabodhi, if you get Debater promo, take it and defend, other Apostle goes towards the inquisition. 2nd strat is keep 1 charge of your first batch of missionairies and surround your Holy City (though not effective if your Holy City is coastal / next to a lake and you don't have Shipbuilding). Do you have an earlier save to do either? As I fear the idea you outlined is doomed to fail, either from Cree missionaires finding the city or religious pressure.

I think people get confused about Tomyris because her agenda is similar to Gilgamesh's (She likes you if you are her declared friend) but yeah while it's easy to keep her on your good side after you became friends for the first time, that can take a while, especially if she has a second/third agenda you struggle with

He always has like 3 more cities, a dominant religion, capital filled to the brim with wonders and a terrifying army. Yet his abilities are ... meh.

Yeah people make a lot of weird assumptions about Civ 6. Tomyris and maybe Ba Trieu and I think Wilfrid(?) have *lower* thresholds than other civs on first meets, but only Gilgamesh is guaranteed.

AI behaviour in religious aspects is so incredibly annoying and it was never addressed by the developers. Even when you disable religious victory before starting the game, the AI plays like it was the only possible victory type. When you tell them "do not convert my cities", they never keep that promise and keep sending tons and tons of missionaries and apostles. You can easily have several hundred(!) grievance points against them, they just don't care (I tried it many times). Declaring war on them is either not possible (due to friendships or alliances), and when it's possible, it might completely ruin your planned strategy for the game.

Rockbands will Convert a City to your Founding Religion, even if you lose it. Reason I know this, is because there's an Achievement to do just that! ~ *Rock God* _Have no cities Following your Religion then convert a City to your religion using a Rock Band Unit_ ... So you could always.. Convert, Take the City, and Inquisitor Spam... just to play the long game

How about a domination victory where you have to conquer all capitals BUT ONLY THE CAPITALS (no other cities) at the same turn?

I usually buy missionaries and spread to own cities for the beliefs. Once that is done, I stop buying missionaries and its apostle time. One city with the temple (usually capital) and pumping 3-4 apostles out such that when their missionaries come by, I beat them up as if they're barbarian scouts and show the superior religion.

I have not tested this but my theory on the first impressions is that it is based on who met who since the dialog is different whether your unit finds their city, their unit finds your city, or your units find each other. As for the fortify + promote trick, does that actually fortify the unit or is it just a visual glitch, as in, does it actually give the higher defense stat when you wake up the unit like that?
