I’m 20 right now and I started mewing a little over a year now. I have noticed slight changes (and even have pictures I could send) but as of right now, I don’t really care if it works or not because it’s become a habit anyways to mew 24/7. So no matter what the results are from this point on doesn’t concern me.

That's how mewing should be. In first place it's the correct oral posture: tongue gently pressed on the roof of the mouth, teeth apart, lips closed. Than, in second place it's going to sustain a good cranial development. Good luck 🍀

There's something called alveolar expansion in which no suture splitting and no diastemas form. It is caused by gentle but constant pressures to the teeth which then act as transductors to the alveolar bone which transforms mechanical stress to electricity (see piezoelectric properties of bone) This electricity causes osteocites to act in the area in a process called osteogenesis. Alveolar bone will grow for life but it needs stimuli. In fact it is possible to expand your lower arch by this method and there are apliances which make precisely that, it's activated with slow protocols.

Could you tell me more about these appliances that work through slow protocols ?

Dr. John Mew said the sutures of the maxilla aren’t fixed until your in your 70s. After I heard that, I decided to try mewing. But I couldn’t really do it because of my narrow palate. Before even hearing anyone talk about it, I thought why not gently push my thumb up against my maxilla. So I would do that several times a day. After a few weeks, I could tell that it really helped and now I am able to keep my tongue up against my upper palate. I am in my mid 50s. After a couple of months doing this, my lower jaw has moved forward. To get my maxilla to grow forward I am going to use my thumbs again to help. I am sure it’s easier to get faster change in children’s faces, but just because you’re older don’t let that hinder you.

Honestly I can’t mew, and I don’t know if it’s because my palate is too small. I self measured my first molars and with a 1mm adjustment I think my intermolar spacing is 43mm. I’d love to gain around 4mm, but aside from not having a lot of room for wisdom teeth, I don’t have any real issues. No snoring no sleep apnea (I’ve used a snoring app before and found no snoring), no other issues, but mewing makes it absolutely impossible for me to breathe. You were kind of a dick. I found the bit at the end a bit judgmental. With a minimum wage job, you can't afford a couple hundred dollars a month.
