We have heard this for how long??? Defense will be about 5th best in the B1G. With a rookie QB I expect turnovers to still be an issue. They win 8 games max. And 8 games would be a GREAT season for that mediocre program

Nebraska has Speedy WR as well as good RBs. Not to mention athletic TEs. The QB was the missing factor and Nebraska has that with Dylan Raiola. Can’t get the ball into your playmakers hands if you don’t even have an average QB behind center. Which Nebraska didn’t have an average QB at all last year, hence the 5-7.

Mike Rozier was playing at a community college (Coffeyville Junior College) until Nebraska gave him a shot. I'm not comparing anyone to Rozier, just staying you never know what talent can come from a less conventional or lower division program.

Lol I just got done explaining that the mouthpiece is a metaphor (meaning not literal) for the saying “the devil is in the details.” Teams that historically lose close games lose them because they miss out on the details, much like CU and Nebraska; both of which are teams trying to learn the details so they stop losing close games. One could argue CU lost to Stanford because of their 17(!) penalties. That’s a bunch of dudes who metaphorically wore the wrong mouth pieces - that is to say they didn’t pay attention to the details and were humiliated for it. CU had 107 penalties for 854 yards last year. That’s absolutely insane. I guarantee you if the CU players were more detail focused, they don’t lose those games to Arizona and Stanford, where they amassed an incredible 28 penalties for 210 yards. CU is a bowl team without all that nonsense. On the Nebraska side, you have players who came up under Frost, who famously lost TONS of close games, he also didn’t pay attention to the details. Many games were lost on badly timed penalties at the ends of games. Last year Nebraska was a team learning the details, but the stupid careless turnovers killed them. 8 careless turnovers in the first 2 games, otherwise, they’re are also a bowl team. Watch this year and see if either team cleans up their careless mistakes (details) and how that translates to their respective records.

Matt Rhule is not a bad coach. If you look at his resume he started out with losing / poor teams the first two years and then the 3rd year they're successful. Matt Rhule takes the slow burner approach to building out his roster. If you give him time he'll start cookin, especially with the resources at Nebraska.

QB doesn’t have to win them, just don’t loose them. Completely average QB play and average turnover margin last year and they could have and should have been 8-4. That is all Dylan needs to do, be average.

This kid is far better than any qb in that room. That alone will lead to a bowl game and then some, 4-5 games?. With the schedule being what it is he can get a year's load of confidence off the first game.

No he doesn’t have to win any games for the team, just be average and not lose the team games.
