How much does the wind effect a Narrowboat? In this video we battle the elements to try and reach Ellesmere as we cruise in convoy with our boat friends.

Hi guys ... Ash can be burnt almost straight away because it has a very low moisture content ... other stuff needs drying for some time but if it's already been down for a few months give it a go ... cutting and splitting the logs helps to dry it out quicker and windfall branches are mostly good to go also .. keep up the good work ... All that Ash pile was perfect for burning straight away, would have kept you going for a good month ... Steve👍

Kentucky, USA, has the same weather. We can go three seasons in one day, just about. We hardly know what to wear when we leave in the morning, as we might either smother, or freeze, later in the day.

You'll find pulling the trolley will be much easier. Also add a second nut on the wheels and tighten the nuts aginst each other o lock them and prevent the loss of single nuts.

Brilliant as always, I love watching your journey through such stunning countryside. Please though, one thing - I am not Welsh but cringe at your pronunciation of Llangollen! This isn't totally right but it is more Thlangothlen to say (though the thl can be a cl depending on who you listen to) :)
@thefloatinghome17
@thefloatinghome17 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Simon - we are trying hard with the pronunciation so my apologies! Have just released a Llangollen video and probably said it in 5 different ways throughout lol hopefully one is accurate!

Love the videos but just a point. Conservationists will pile wood up as shelter for hedgehogs and other wildlife. Consider before you disturb.

@@thefloatinghome17 I've volunteered (once) for the Woodland Trust and Barrie is right. The trees will have been thinned out to give the others a better chance/more room and piled up not just for hedgehogs but smaller wildlife (wrens will nest in piles), as well as invertebrates and fungi etc. They also shelter smaller and younger plants as well as feeding the soil as they rot down. I'm sure the odd bit won't make a difference though, but it is better seasoned or it will sizzle, smoke a lot and not give out as much heat.

You'll get more BTUs from oak than any other wood. Basically the harder the wood the longer the burn. But it is tougher to cut.
