You don’t get to be CW champ while being a mediocre fighter . Is he UFC champ level? No, is he top 15 lightweight? No. But to say he’s mediocre is such a couch potato take. People really underestimate just how hard fighting is, he’s a scrappy dude with good grappling.

If Paddy can get him down then he's got his best Shot , But I think Green wins By Decision or possible TKO. I feel like Green is smart enough to to Force Paddy to stay Standing if he can. Whether that's takedown Defense or Having Paddy stood up if he drops him.

This is the problem with having a named “star” slowplaying their career through proper matchmaking. You can’t really do both. I don’t think anyone would have a problem calling him a potentially good fighter who can draw. But it’s this label of stardom. I say that bc let’s say he goes out and literally sparks Bobby in a round. You’ll see people just not liking him still but respecting atleast he can scrap. That’s what’s happening with Garry. I don’t personally see the issue with the guy but I get why ppl don’t like him. Regardless, ppl can’t say he can’t fight even with close wins. Ian doesn’t have a Jared Gordon situation on his hands. If I was matchmaker and my goal was to makes paddy a star ppl won’t reflect, have him fight Dober. Perfect benchmark. He will expose him or solidify him. Bobby fights hands down and is clever but reckless though so it’s a good fight for paddy to show out . Either that or Bobby WILL stop him, there’s no wat Bobby lets it be boring

@BLACKmaigc absolutely not. While it's obvious since his pro career started right after the Civil rights movement, half of America was already over this racist bullshit, and the other half were so racist they wouldn't have watched his matches unless it was to hope to see him lose to a white person. True boxing fans know it's really due to how quick witted he was in the build ups and how he got in people's heads so bad they would throw away any basics and just fight through emotions. Just to reiterate, you're completely wrong. If he was only popular with minorities, specifically black people, which was a considerably smaller percentage of the population than it is today, he wouldn't have been in such huge, ceremonious prize fights in his day.

LISTEN TO ME! Paddy has been in the UFC for 3 years. By the time Jon Jones was in the UFC for 3 years, he had become champion of the world. It took GSP 2 years to become champ. GSP and Jones were reasonably new to MMA. Paddy came in a seasoned fighter and he's nowhere near the top of his division. The UFC slow plays us fans now and we just take it. The UFC has become boxing, trying to pad stats and build artificial stars. I do miss the days when the best fought the best, when top fighters fought more than once a year and we could get a fresh fight, not just rematches all of the time. The think about Paddy is that he is not as popular as you guys believe he is, maybe in the UK he is, just like a brazilian fighter like Jailton Almeida is very popular to us here in Brazil, overall, Paddy is not that popular, he is very forgetable, if he never fights again the majority of people won't care, won't remember, hell, a lot of times I forget about him until I see some news about him, and I know I'm not the only one, I see comments of people saying "I forgot about this guy" all the time, he hasn't done anything in the UFC to remember, the reason he is "famous" is because the UK fanbase and the UFC claims he is famous, his popularity isn't organic, it was built, forced upon the larger UFC fanbase, that made people turn on him very quickly because he is simply not that guy, he has a funny hair, gets fat and loses weight, it's all fun but in the cage he is not all that, he can take a punch and has goos jiu jitsu but that's it, he clearly lost to Gordon, but act like he destroyed the guy, the reason people want to see his downfall is because we got this narrative of him being the next superstar pushed on us, so we want to see it being proven wrong, and even if he becomes a champion, he will never be a Conor, a Poatan, hell, not even a Topuria... He is not humble, he is fabricated, maybe it isn't his fault, having people around him saying he is the next Conor from a very young age, similiar to Garry, you can't replicate Conor, the biggest superstar in MMA right now after Conor doesn't even speak english, is a guy that people told him his entire life he would be nothing, a drunken nobody, so he used the sport to prove everyone wrong, and he still doing that, so much that you know who I'm talking about without me even having to say his name... Paddy lacks the mentality to be what his fans wants him to be, he just doesn't have it.

The joy of joys that is the best thing about mma is that it is all so inevitable. We get to see exactly what happens when Paddy either gets his arse handed to him by a Jim Miller or Bobby Green and we all laugh at how overhyped he was, or he does continue to win and eventually he ends up fighting the top guys. Either way, I’m 1000% confident it ends really badly for him….and I’m here for it. 😂

He has to at least stand with Bobby first. Otherwise, if he goes straight for the take down it will be a repeat of Ian Garry MVP. Nobody questions Paddy's ground game, they question how he deals with strikers with power.

The problem is that after ever fight he gets on the mic and runs his mouth like he just put on the most one sided display ever. As soon as he fights someone with big power he goes to sleep. I think Bobby KOs him.

Seems to be a lot of salty americans in this comment section, If Paddy easily submits Bobby Green then of course he can beat a top 10 fighter, maybe not top 5, but this is the most competitive division in the sport!

I cant see Paddy going 5 rounds. He needs to be well conditioned all year round like the top tier fighters are. Pereira gets straight back in the gym after a fight and paddy goes to Macdonald's. He also isn't fast enough in the striking department and doesn't move his head. He's going to get splattered

He is in a strange place that yes, he's one of the best fighters on the planet but he's one of the worst best fighters on the planet. Even just being in the MMA means you're incredible but if you don't look like you're ever gonna win a title, no matter who the champ is then you're seen as worthless. For me, it's the difference between the words and the actions. He was hyped as the next McGregor and has talked mad shit while barely scraping by in every fight. Conor at least walked through ppl in the ways he said he would, poatan has shown up and done unbelievable things, while Paddy has struggled against some of the least threatening guys in the division. You can't talk like you're already the champ champ while getting dropped in your debut, edging close decisions, and not being able to beat a washed Tony more convincingly than Green.

He's a guy who focuses on going for the sub. Who can't wrestle all that great, and has horribly basic striking with no head movement. And most of his worries through camp is probably on making weight and not actually improving. One dimensional submission guys just tend to never go far. And his submission game although decent enough, isn't like lights out or anything.

I am genuinely worried that MMA Fandom is getting to a place (as evidenced by how many times the guest called everyone idiots, and some of these other comments) where people think that if someone disagrees with them, it must just be because they are too dumb to see their enlightened position.
