I mean Debs more sounds like an pacifist/worker rights activist than a hardened criminal who would sell drugs, traffic people, run illegal casinos, etc. To label him as one sounds kind of biased. Also participation in WWI was not very popular idea in USA at that time, he certainly wasn't only one with that opinion. Also what is the difference between the workers strikes in today's USA and railroad worker strikes Debs participated in? Sounds like it was more of a technicality(obstruction of mail service) to try and convict him.

He can’t. Even if he could (via the VP scheme) pardons carry an admission of guilt. That would disqualify him immediately since the federal J6 case is basically a conviction for insurrection.
