Awesome video & I can't believe it was posted 2 years ago, it was well ahead of the curve! I'm hoping products like probiotics etc that we can just add to our tanks will not be to far away.

It would be interesting to see if the bacterial isolates from other corals match those from the coral in this study. This is rather exciting. I hope that others in this field of study are able to repeat this experiment and perhaps tackle one of the other questions at the end. :)

Great video! Curious, is Dr. Tims Pro-biotic not related to this? The bottle claims to fight against vibrio. Also, I've used this pro biotic in the past for general tank health while fighting dinos. Coral loss was non existent during the battle.

Awesome! From memory the Zoox differ even for the same corals at different locations (Vincent Chalias did a presentation once I think at MACNA). Anyhow I don't know if the probiotics only has to be from any coral or if it's species specific but my guess is most corals will benefit to some extent and it will be worthwhile - like for us - but getting customized probiotics would be better - just a guess and I did environmental science at uni - nothing like this. But after watching this I think in a few years if you buy high end frags from someone good you will get a specific probiotic mixture that you can put on it after you dip it - that would help it settle into the tank. I see other exciting possibilities from this - it got me wondering if different colors of the same corals in different tanks are as a result of this

I am a bit cautious with the current product... first, they don't publish the lists of bacteria / microorganisms in their products, so it is difficult to compare it to the know sequences used the published experiments. Second, they don't point to any literature / research they have done to support their claims... Its very easy for companies to market products by saying they will help corals... i would like them to back this up with research.

@@TheBioReef Well they are German ;) FM do a heap of research there (for a small team) and say they develop products for their farm - my guess is they don't want others copying. They don't push their products - like they told me twice I wouldn't need the Amins (but they do have the list of Aminos in it. I've had good experiences with them - really good. If it was another company I'd be more skeptical and it's an expensive product (on a cost / gallon the Amins is the cheapest on the market I can find at retail price). It may not do anything but my guess is they were onto the same article as you when it came out and then went and made some. Then I assume they would have tested it for negative effects (they even do that on frag plugs). I don't know how positive it would be but I after seeing your video I think it has the possibility of really helping if there is some instability ;) Without seeing your video I would never have considered it ;)
