Stupid question. No, of course not. All the people who have "said things" are full of crap. Haven't we learned this by now.

But European leaders were very keen to avoid any kind of military assistance for at least the 1st 6 months of the war. They were hoping that sanctions alone could work...

"I asked ChatGPT to propose sanctions against Russia to the European Commission. " It said all it had left for sanctions was Cat meme's and Biden sized adult diapers.

The Donbass requested Russian assistance. It is therefore legal. Did Syria invite America?

Unfortunately, it seems that Russia can withstand Western economic sanctions for quite some time. Either the West increases sanction pressure and enforces them properly or else calls for greater military intervention will be difficult to resist

Mate, why should other states do this? Why should they be part of your sanctions, it's not in their interests AT ALL. The Russians have moved to a form of autarky. How can you understand the world if you see it from such a myopic point of view like your guest has? It is not a so-called political victory, it is a political slam dunk. Why can't people accept reality? You can hate whomever you like for reasons that are justified or not, but nobody should be a dissembler or denier of reality. Why not accept REALITY of the Russian Federation and deal with it accordingly, rather than needing to frame everything in an antagonistic way? Your guest is not an expert on Russia, he doesn't know anything about it. He only consumes western media sources and does so uncritically. We should not do that, we should not swallow what we hear from wherever it comes. The only two things he said that are unquestionably true are about Russian demographics and interest rates, and inflation. But you don't need financial systems to have a productive economy, it has manufacturing, it has industry, their resources exist as their permanent capital resource. They have PLENTY of money from the sales of those resources, the system of oil price ceiling completely failed, how can anyone say otherwise with a straight face???

But such actions eventually affect the west like petroleum and natural gas. Sanctions causes increase in pricing of everything else. At some point the rest of the world will realize that the west only cares about the west and it’s interpretation of democracy. It’s population and the rest of the world will suffer as a result of their unwillingness to negotiate. Is it really just Putin or is the elephant in the room(western expansion and manipulation) also to blame?

Russia’s economy has survived Western sanctions “far better” than predicted, recent reports show. Meanwhile, the European Union’s (EU) economy has been suffering drastically, causing working class voters to turn against aid for Ukraine.“Well, I think Europe is losing the war,” said Lazare. “And losing a war is no fun. The situation in Ukraine is going very poorly. Russia clearly is winning, its economy is doing very well. The European economy, by contrast, is stalling. And if Russia does make progress in the war, if the Ukraine government breaks in some way, then the results for Europe will be devastating.” Captain Obvious had a hunch,"EU Faces $61Bln NATO Spending Shortfall, Roughly Same Amount It Threw Away in Ukraine"

I don't see that Russia is winning. They are just spending mountains of cash for no reason

@@9to5liveI see it very different than you do. "So much Russia winning alone while the EU and Nato lose together" Since 2014 Russia has liberated 2000 km of coastline 134,000 sq Km of territory and expanding daily and what was area that made up 42% of Ukraines 2014 GDP. Also 63 percent of Ukrainian reported coal mines are under Russian control as of July 2022. This trend continues across other key sectors: Russia controls 27 percent of Ukraine's iron ore deposits, 50 percent of its manganese ore deposits, 100 percent of its strontium supplies, and roughly 20 percent of precious metal deposits. According to SecDev estimates, the total worth of all Ukrainian mineral wealth now under Russian control is around $12 trillion. -Source Kiev Independant Feb 23 2024.
