Not the best against swarming zombies that are also melee based I think is what he meant. At least that's what I got from it. If I'm fighting a zombie swarm I would rather have a bolter than a chainsword for sure. Now me being able to use either without self inflicted injury is a totally different question lol

Not Really there have been serveral times in the lore where about 100-500 unarmend civilans took down a Spacemarine, 4 Custodes would do the Job

the lack of tactics on display is that of the average general in 40K though, however the spacemaries would say otherwise.

Forget all of those tanks: the PDF would have POSTED MEN ON THE BATTLEMENTS of the first fort so they could provide cover-fire for the SM who chose to stand outside the walls! (With RPG launchers and mortar-teams inside, you saw what those grenade walkers did to the zed, now picture that but coming from inside the walls and raining hell outside them for close to 500 yards as the zed TRY to close-the-gap...

At top-level command positions that's a factor, but that's because they're trying to direct the fighting across whole worlds or even multiple star-systems, which, yeah, fuckups are inevitable at that scale, and in some cases might LOOK-LIKE a fuckup to the boots-on-the-ground people, but actually sending those men to certain death was critical to force the enemy to react to it in a way that will SAVE millions of other troopers: the ones on that mission just happened to get the short-straw.

@@alexanderjarukYeah, the lack of properly deployed heavies was what really killed the Imperium here. You don't fight hordes of low-quality melee-only enemies with Space Marines holding regular bolters. Those are precision weapons to take out individual enemies, not crowd control. You deploy a wall of Astartes to buy time, much like the setup of battle 1 - but IMMEDIATELY back them up. The frontline marines are only there to hold the zombies off. The killing work is for heavy artillery, orbital bombardments, whatever you have on hand that goes BOOOOM. Alternatively, literally a tank, regardless of type, would be able to plough through the zombie horde unscathed and rack up kills without even firing a shot - of course, they can do that too, for extra kills. Not quite as effective as area bombardment, but will eventually get the job done.

The only way I see a million zombies possibly bringing down a marine in full armour is by surrounding and crowd crushing him with the weight of a million bodies.

Technically not an entire chapter seeing that the tenth company isn't confined to exactly 100 marines seeing that it is the scout company and it's the company recruits are trained in

@@borekminer they are zombies. Normal bullets don't even penetrate their armor. a fair fight would be 15 mil zombies vs 1 Marine, it'd take ages, but he'd still win.

Totally. The numbers could be balanced if at least he colocated the troops with a minimum of strategy

Some of it was gltichy. Also, the setup was not great. He put tanks out in the open, not smart. Also, some of the units could not fire because of the mountain of dead zombies.

He keeps adding trolls into battles but it just ruins them because trolls are insanely OP.
