Southern accents. When I first moved here in 1982, I used to smile at people talking to me, then ask my husband what they said!

When my (Northern born and raised) husband and I went to visit relatives in Kentucky and Arkansas, I became his official interpreter. The first time that we visited them, he still had most of his Northeast (Connecticut) accent....... and.... he would get this response after he would talk to strangers (in their areas): “Yah ain’t from round these parts..” or “From the North, ain’t ya”.

I'm from Louisiana and people from there will ask where are you from. I'll be with my parents, siblings or husband. I'm like the same place they are from. One guy called his Mama and said listen to this lady, she sounds like Reba. If only I had her money. Lol. Personally I think I sound like everyone else.
