We also seen 20mm fail to penetrate the AR500 steel and the Titanium. In fact we saw the 20mm ironically did less damage than the .50BMG... This video was not a fair comparison at all and is invalid because the plates were spaced out. Invalid comparison. Just by having the plates spaced out will make it much more easier to penetrate, and this fact had been proven by countless people online...

Yes this barrel is to short. Normally it is around 70 inches. So one that short is no where getting the full effect of the rounds.
@prandomable
@prandomable Жыл бұрын
@@ericjohnson3755 it ALSO depends on how hot each round is actually loaded to. You can have a round that's not loaded hot at all and shoot it out of a LONG barrel, if that's the case it would be slowing down the bullet. You want PEAK pressure at the muzzle...if your PEAK pressure is BEFORE the muzzle. If that's the case then your long barrel is only slowing down your bullets...
@7150285
@7150285 Жыл бұрын
@@ericjohnson3755 a more scientific way is to shoot it THRU a chronograph like what many many GunTubers do, rather than just "assuming" a longer barrel will increase the velocity without any actual scientific data support like a chronograph's velocity reading.

My apologies if it was mentioned already but one thing to note is that spacing the plates impedes penetration compared to sandwiching them together. Reason being is that spacing the plates will cause the projectile to destabilize and hit side on, which is not good for penetration. The Germans used spaced armor in WW2 to counter Soviet 14.5mm Anti tank rifles for this reason. Whether or not this was the desired result, I do not know, but someone everybody should be aware of.
@7150285
@7150285 Жыл бұрын
You are wrong. Before we start an argument I just want to let you know there are many videos online showing that spacing will only allow bullets to penetrate the plates much easier and FURTHER than sandwiching them together, because most likely with the spacing it wouldn't have any back support...

No flame intended, but that's a myth. The incidence of damage occurs far before support of the target makes any difference. It's like thinking that you would be less wounded by a shot, if you were braced against a building. At these forces the effect of supported vs. unsupported targets means nothing, ballistically or realistically.
@7150285
@7150285 Жыл бұрын
@@45CaliberCure this arguments/debates of having back support vs no back support have been going on for many many years for so long and I think everyone is sick of this endless argument. But my from own personal observation is that having a back support vs no back support will make little to no difference. EVEN IF it did make a difference it certainly wouldn't be a HUGE difference, that is for sure. Most damages is already done on the plates before the plates even started to move...

What effect that has on your many science experiments remains to be seen (maybe zero). I don''t know about the 20mm round stabilize distance?
